for christs sake stop judging him. of course he would win stuff in the air. On the floor he wasnt that shaky but remember on the deck the premiership is a totally different ball game the aerial game never changes whatever league you play in, give him time hes only played 2 games and put in 2 good performances and whatever anyone says he was better than bramble today. Bramble was marking bellamy and Gooch was marking Kuyt, it was Brambles fault that he left bellamy not gooch's. put him next to a decent centre back who can read the game e.g Woodgate we would have the perfect defensive partnership. Gooch the powerful physical defender and woody the reader and stopper of opposition attacks.

Newcastle 2-1 Liverpool - Post Match Thoughts.
Gallowgate Toon replied to BlufPurdi's topic in Football
i thought baba had a good game today and so did bramble, however taylor and gooch is the defensive partnership in the middle imo -
never trust an african website, coz it was an african website that got oba's age wrong
-
thing is newcastle isnt a small club we are within the top 20 biggest clubs in the world right now it was on tv a couple of months ago. we aren't as big as inter but we aren't exactly a much smaller 'pond' than most other top clubs. he will stay imo
-
i think he will stay to at least the end of his contract, oba appears to be a humble guy and he has only had kind words to say about newcastle, he certainly won't leave after one season with us he even admitted he loved newcastle. i think he will stay and next season we will be a huge force and i think we might win something and he will stay for a long time.

he has always been good, but we didnt get him because of the age concerns, there never was any age concerns in the first place. a stupid error on a website and everybody says he is lying about his age, its ridiculous. There were a host of other top european clubs in for him but we were prepared to pay the most money. hes always good but he never improved in italy whereas he has improved at newcastle like a 22 year old should.

no, boumsong was shite against yeading for his first appearance, however gooch had a good game against much stronger opponents. Boumsong never looked good to me he only looked good coz our defence was and always has been shite ever since we lost woodgate i suppose arguably the same can be said for onyewu. however even when boumsong played decent he never looked as calm or collected as onyewu, and the rangers fans that i spoke to when we signed boumsong said he was way overrated and the price we payed for him was ridiculous.

Roeders selection of carr made sense at the beginning of the game but imo it wasn't the right decision and in the end his plan backfired totally, carr is a bit stronger than solano and roeder was trying to combat Colemans physically bigger side but carr is just a fat, ignorant, bastard. although the stream i was watching said solano had a minor strain but who knows. The team selection was right apart from carr, even bramble was right coz he can actually head the ball. but the plan backfired, they were no better than us they didn't deserve all three points imo. i thought gooch had a decent debut and he would be an excellent partnership with Taylor. he looks strong & dependable and for his first game in the prem i thought he was good but i ain't going to jump the gun but i have a feeling he is a good signing. Roll on the scousers...

Newcastle 3 - 1 Aston Villa - Post match thoughts
Gallowgate Toon replied to Dave's topic in Football
It was only a poor performance because Butt went off and dyer moved into midfield, and when sibber comes on Roeder and the team turn to long ball eventhough sibber never wins headers. We become one dimensional and predictable and villa just take it straight back and create more chances. Also we lose defensive cover because butt is wise and holds his position an breaks down opposition attacks and when he comes off we have no protection. This is why Dyer and Martins is the partnership for Newcastle. Bramble will be dropped on saturday, made more mistakes than Taylor and Taylor deserves to keep his place in the team. Btw Martins is friggen fast, couldn't believe it, i mean i knew he was quick but christ!!! -

Birmingham vs Newcastle FAC R3 - Pre-Match Thread
Gallowgate Toon replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
i am not sure, it all depends on who we have signed (if we sign anybody). Sibby should make Birmingham and Nicky Butt is 50/50 but i would like to see Alan O'brien have a run out and i would not mind seeing Edgar at CB because of the little i have seen of him he looks better than the little i have seen of Huntington. but the side picks itself really and perhaps a surprise start for Luque... -
Shay didn't have to boot it, he was under no pressure and could have just passed it but it was a stupid idea/tactic in the first place, we should be alot more positive, but why was Parker at the kick off anyway he is meant to be a DM and why wasn't Oba with Sib and Dyer for the kick off?
-
i would prefer John Carew from Lyon much better player IMO not happy at Lyon still only 27 and powerfully built not the most gifted goalscorer but sets up many, his scroing record is similar to Crouch's but he is stronger and cheaper and a very good footballer.

oh yeah martins trick was when he started doing this weird tapping the ball with his feet, it looked like he was doing some sort of dance on the ball, it was very strange but a neat trick that made gary neville look like a total faggot.

. overall good performance showed lots of spirit and heart and actually the second goal was more emre's fault because he couldn't be arsed to run back to the box leaving parker with fletcher and scholes but it was a stupid back pass from parker anyway but Shay didn't have to smack it he could have just passed it to Taylor. o thought Nobby generally played well but he was sloppy with some passing and got sucked in too much and got caught out of position. Parker tried hard but he is a little too negative. Emre was sh*te Milner tried his bollocks off and hats off to Dyer never stopped running and tracked Ronaldo all game. Sibber and Martins ran alot to say the least, Sibber was disappointing on the ball though and he even got outjumped by Evra a few times but he gave his all and Martins was poor in the first half but he was very good i though in the 2nd half and his passing much improved in the second half too. pleased for edgar too but Hunty was abit shaky. but it was a Fcuking brilliant performance bluebiggrin.gif

Everton vs Newcastle - Post Match Thoughts.
Gallowgate Toon replied to BlufPurdi's topic in Football
i think it will be interesting to see how the team and oba react to be honest. it was a terrible penalty but he has been excellent for the last 10 games (excluding todays game). and i wonder if Nigel Pearson can perhaps motivate the players for Man U because glenn roeder is a nice guy but a little too nice about the team but Pearson is known to be a very hard man if things are not going the right way. TBH i am not sure what to expect at Man U we might come out fighting or we might surrender because in todays game we showed signs of both. but i was listening to the radio on the way back home and i heard John Anderson say that you can not blame the penalty miss for the loss eventhough it was at a pivotal moment in the match because we did create other chances but throughout the match we lacked drive, this is probably because of the fixture congestion but these men are payed to be fit and its now that the players have to show their worth. -
have you checked wikipedia. that will tell you how prolific he was
-
on radioi newcastle they said he scored 50 penalties in his career at newcastle but the rest was open play (including free kicks)
-
He should be signed again after his masterclass in kicking
-
i think that Pav's contract runs out on January 1st. i remember he said that he wanted to play 1 more game for Newcastle.
-
i think we will get Taye Taiwo because i heard that inter are after Eduardo Ratinho from Brazil, and Ratinho is friends with Adriano. also Marseille are doing terribly in the league and he migth prefer a move away?
-
well i have only heard of Bale, never seen him play. but the basic truth is that Roeder will only sign or try to sign Baines. i am pretty sure that Roeder has never heard of Taye taiwo or most of the names that have been mentioned in this thread

Sigurd rushfeldt the guy i was on about before (soz my quotations won't work)
