  1. Honestly, think we might take a beating. I just can't get away with Phillips and Rice together and think it'll be a big weak point against a side who really are a step up from anyone we've played so far (not diminishing our run, we've played some good teams). Got a feeling the defence will be exposed a fair bit. It'll be an interesting tactical battle; I think we're better suited to a counter style but we've aimed to control the ball a lot so far. I wonder if Southgate will be happy for us to cede some ground. I'd put Henderson in for Rice and Foden in for Mount.
  2. Foden during the celebration he was class when he came on. Not his tourney but we've got lots to look forward to with him. What a leader Sterling has turned into. He's a weird, frustrating player, but he's provided cutting edge all tournament and always looked to step up when it counts. Class. I think Italy will tear us up a bit, tbh, but this will have been a great journey regardless - you've got to enjoy these moments.
  3. I was thinking this they seem to be everywhere.
  4. Immense. Football is so much better when you're invested like this.
  5. I don't agree with starting Rice & Phillips but can sort of understand it. What was unforgiveable was that the game was largely in front of us for the entire match, so you need someone in a central spot to open up the lines a bit, but Southgate either didn't see it or refused to do anything about it. Really poor subs. Dour football under a dour (but canny) manager.
  6. Desperately poor from Southgate today. Think he'll be chuffed with a draw, tbh
  7. Streaming it on YT (officially too)
  8. City, somehow, appear to have nobody available ahead of players, massive gaps at the back, and don't seem to be winning many second balls in the middle either.
  9. Good player, seems an even better lad. Wish him all the best. I think he'll have a good PL career - he's got a decent amount of attributes that could work well in a few different set ups. Don't think he'll find that at Arsenal though...
  10. Super League stuff is potentially great timing for NUST to piggy back on fan negativity towards it and get some more traction with the pledge scheme.
  11. Who gives a flying fuck about what Sunderland think? They're going to take the piss no matter what we do, so let them crack on being shite. I've pledged. I have questions around the bigger plan etc. but fan ownership is something I've long had strong feelings about for a while, and I think there are some really good people involved in NUST who will improve/tweak this over time with the right direction from fans.
  12. Someone needs to do a 'who said it' - Luke Edwards or some middle-aged Karen? "Yeah I’m going to retweet this" "I don’t know why I do it but can’t help arguing. " "Very flattered you’ve asked for my permission but you don’t need it." "I naturally make lots of great points that lots of people will no doubt disagree with." As if he had the gall to dig fans for being abusive when he actually admits to baiting people too.
  13. I still quite liked the look of Willock last night, tbh, in the rare instances he was on the ball. Seems to have good footballing basics, athleticism, and the will/lungs to get forward into decent positions.
  14. When are they going to realise that restricting press never leads to a good outcome, man? So relentlessly thick.
  15. I have a feeling that he'll become quite a good manager, tbh, but this was far too much of a leap too soon for him.
  16. Looks like he's massively going through the motions to me, tbh. His attitude and willingness to try things compared to the beginning of the season is like night and day. Feels like he's been very passive since those comments from his agent. Can't say I can blame any attacking player being unmotivated in this team, regardless of whether they're 'good enough' or not.
  17. Tbh, I've found Cox to be pretty fucking unlikeable (on Twitter at least).
  18. We are so timid. Nobody tries to do anything even venturing on creative. I think he set out to not concede against a crap side, once again, the prick. Hopefully this turns some pressure up on the pleb.
  19. Good ball from the Mig. He needs to be more assertive in games like these, somewhat regardless of how crap the tactics are.
  20. He might be on the money but he himself has been guilty of fucking a club off that's treated him very well
  21. Felt like we were playing this bizarre Red Arrows sequence in midfield where our deepest midfielder would start to press and then the next deepest would start to follow behind. Ended up creating the most ridiculous amount of space in front of the central defence that I've seen in a long, long time.
  22. Favourite finish from an NUFC player in the last decade? I think Remy's first against Cardiff (away) is mine. Felt like a perfectly-placed arrow into the bottom corner - lovely balance of power & finesse.
  23. He's more aggressive than I thought, which has been a welcome surprise. Has the lovely knack of being able to hold off much bigger centre backs and get long balls under some level of control too. Rondon was an absolute master at this but that was expected considering how much of a unit he is.
