Appreciate the replies. I am just so bloody confused. From the outside, it seems that PL have not given out anything to make the people in the deal feel very positive about the outcome. At the end Amanda Staveley even commented that the PL made it very difficult (or words to that affect). That however contradicts what they were supposedly told earlier on on the quiet by the PL. It feels like there's contradictions at every turn so who knows what the real truth is. My faintest but best hope is that this is all some amazing plot to absolve the PL from any repercussions from the objectors, when it finally goes through.

Even up until yesterday they were expecting a 'Yes'. I just don't get that at all. What are they basing that on? Is Manorpark Amanda Staveley?

I'm trying to interpret what George is saying here. Is he saying that they were quietly getting things done behind the scenes but Ashley has fucked it all with his statement ?

Is there not a scenario where maybe political interventions alongside informal discreet discussions, may lead to a scenario where unofficial nods and winks are given which gives PIF the confidence to return ? Oh of course, I would agree that that is not beyond the realms of possibility. In my opinion though, the chance of it happening to help Newcastle United, is very small.
