  1. I love how, being NUFC, the appointment already has comedic value through google.
  2. Just listened to that, was pretty funny
  3. The only player I really rate of the ones I listed is Dani Alves and even then it's too much for him. Bullied the other teams interested in him in that respect. I basically don't understand why people get so uptight about Chelsea spending so much but don't bat an eyelid when Barca do it. probably because as pointed out loads of times a large ammount (some would say the core) of the team have come through the ranks there. hoew many of chelseas first 11 and subs played youth team there ? Not many, fair enough, but if you have a youth setup as affluent and expansive as Barca's you would expect that to happen.
  4. Yeah, the money spent on Valdes, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Messi, Bojan and Pedro was way ott. If only they could build a team around youth products like Madrid or Chelsea. €35M on Dani Alves, €50M+Eto'o on Ibra, €25M on Chrygyrnsgyhychrchrynski, €25M on Henry, €20M on Milito. Alot for Keirrison too, €15M? Now a reported €50M for Villa and €30-40 for Fabregas? That's all in recent times too. However, I understand the youth system is incredible, yes, but I'm sure alot of money is put into it (well spent, mind). Your best players are from the youth academy, this outrageous spending on players isn't necessary, many of your big signings flop anyway. bit of catch 22 there though, if you have 6-7 academy graduates who are all of a very high standard what do you do, not sign 'marquis' players on principle? patch the squad up with cheap fillers and hope the academy lads can run the whole season? niet barca have it spot on imo...it's not like they're paying what they did for ibra and never gonna get any money back if they move him on, henry's the only example of that really and he was a good signing for them at the time they probably pay over the odds but then so do all of the top clubs man u are a good example this season of what happens when the ronaldos and tevezs of this world leave and get replaced with the machedas, owens and valencias...they fall short The only player I really rate of the ones I listed is Dani Alves and even then it's too much for him. 5. Fair enough he says some good things but you can't argue he has been a COMPLETE waste of space/time/money. Catastrophic signing.
  6. Plus it means Palacios never has to venture into the opponents half. Don't get me wrong, he's a great defender but 1 goal and 1 assist in 33 games isn't a great return for a midfielder. EDIT: Looking into it a bit more he has 1 club career goal and 3 career assists
  7. As much as I doubted it when you said it, Fabiano would be decent there.
  8. The guy on Eurosport kept saying 'Gabriel Milito scores for Inter!' He said it so many times it seemed as if he meant it.

  10. Modric will be off to Chelsea I think. Arda will replace him at Spurs. Modric doesn't fit into the Chelsea mould at all. Can't see it, not physical enough.
  11. I know everyone wanks over Barca, but the amount of money they splash out is sickening sometimes.
  12. Alright, who do you suggest that is a proven goalscorer and will be capable of consistenly getting goals against the top ten? Oh, and costs next to nothing? We need a player to score against the dross in the league because that's where we will pick up our points! I couldn't care less if we can get a striker who'll score a couple against Man United or Chelsea. If we don't have someone who is happy to consistently bang them in against the bottom ten then we will struggle immensely next season.
  13. Haven't read the thread, only Barton's statement. So pot kettle black.
  14. Don't remember him ever saying how good he was. He happily sat on the bench for many games last season despite being the top scorer. Can't argue, he's a goal machine.
  15. Great news....but where's this from? SSN, they reckon he's told Wenger he wants to leave. Would want him to stay for one more season... shame....
  16. You just said 'players who aren't in prelim squads of countries going'. I assume you meant 'in bold'? Nevermind, bye.
  17. Why, in gods name, is Dzeko not going for Bosnia?!
  18. Some Koren stats Age: 29 Goals last season: 5 Assists last season: 3 Games played: 34 Captain of Slovenian national team From ESPN Strengths: He is a creative player, comfortable in possession and with decent goal-scoring ability. Weaknesses: His tackling ability has been called into question and he lacks aggression in the centre of the field.
  19. It's probably better for both parties this way. - If he has a good season Arsenal will get more money for him - Still young so an extra years experience will help Barca. - He won't be sitting on the bench waiting for Xavi to die. Even some sort of buy and loan back deal could work.
  20. He's a funny one. If you had a really good finisher playing alongside him and used him as a second striker he would be great.
  21. As a goalscorer am with Ronaldo, there was glimpses of quality on the ball at times, the fee though is about 4 times too big Eh? Are we in 1994 like? He's an international striker man (admittedly for Ecuador, but still). He scored 4 goals this season. He suffers from Martins-Dindane syndrome. Physically and athletically sound, but gash finishing.
  22. Erm... right-oh. A penalty most of the time, deflection or tap in take your pick. There isn't a facepalm picture big enough.
  23. 'That's the first time a penalty has been missed in the F.A. cup final for ? years!!!' No it's not, it happened 30 minutes ago.
