Yes, but here those two things are actually pretty much identical !!
-
As long as our chosen 11 are a strong first team of high quality players, as they were against Chelsea last weekend, then we will give a VERY good account of ourselves tonight.

That is exactly my first memory from my first match at St James' Park. Such an A M A Z I N G sight and a permanent memory !!

It is England's 2nd Division, it was and is. You can call it what you like but why use a 'meaningless' name instead of the name which describes what it actually is. You may as well call it 'Susan', equally non-descriptive and meaningless as 'Championship'.
-
As I said . . . TOP Division = Premier League 2nd Division = 2nd Division 3rd Division = 3rd Division 4th Division = 4th Division
-
I agree entirely, as do many people I know. TOP Division = Premier League (that is a correct and accurate description) 2nd Division = 2nd Division (that is what it is, our 2nd Division. No DAFT non-descriptive meaningless and misleading name for me - ever) 3rd Division = 3rd Division (that is what it is, our 3rd Division. No DAFT non-descriptive meaningless and misleading name for me - ever) 4th Division = 4th Division (that is what it is, our 4th Division. No DAFT non-descriptive meaningless and misleading name for me - ever) These leagues ARE what they ARE, why give them meaningless 'other names' - they are what they are !!!

Your own football ability - how good are/were you?

I was fantastic - truly fantastic - at playing "doors" with a tennis ball in the back lane of Brinkburn Street in Byker !!! -
Your post sounded younger than that. Age-related implied criticism by the "temporary young-uns" on this forum is quite common, and your post made me think that you were one of them. Apologies !!!

Some silly behaviour just annoys me! (Probably more than they should . . but there you are!)

Why not call the Premier League, the Premier league?? What is all the fuss. It is the Premier League, so call it the Premier League, it's not difficult.
-
Maybe, but it is called The Premier League. Perhaps the simplest way to recall the correct name is to remember that - it is NOT a "ship".
-
Not in my experience. Sunderland perhaps, but "Newcastle and the North East" as a region - NO !!
-
It is The Premier League.

I'll let you have the prozac matey, if you need it. ME . . . never !!!!

As said earlier, who cares whether UEFA need new glasses or not??
-
Who cares if UEFA didn't "recognise" the Fairs Cup, perhaps they are just a poor quality organisation. Historically this UEFA organisation did not organise all European Football Tournaments, they do now. Despite all your points above, the Fairs Cup was a much better, much more difficult to win "2nd European Tournament" than the UEFA Cup eventually became, for the reasons I stated. You shouldn't put too much stock in what UEFA ever say, about anything. I think we all know what type of organisation they are.
-
The European Fairs Cup was never 'demoted' (not sure what that means). In 1971 the name changed to UEFA Cup when UEFA took over the organisation of it. The Fairs Cup was a much higher quality tournament than it's immediate successor (UEFA Cup) eventually became and the Europa League that it eventually changed to, as in the Fairs Cup days only the one top team from each country went into the European Cup so most of the top teams were in the Fairs Cup. Nowadays most of those top teams are in the European Cup / Champions League.
-
Yeah, I have never 'counted' the Intertoto Cup, personally. I only include the TOP competition (European Cup / Champions League) and the 2ND competition (Fairs Cup / UEFA Cup / Europa League). Plus the "European Cup Winners Cup" as that was considered a 'major' tournament also, which the Intertoto was definitely NOT !!!

Ha ha - LOVE it. Milan !!!!

I think they can (medium term) look forward to many more 'derby battles' against teams like Hartlepool and Gateshead !!!
