I thought you were talking about St James' Park! Were you talking about the Metro? West Newcastle was always the extension Tyne & Wear PTE wanted the most, but from day one it was dismissed as it was too expensive - sadly !!

It was only one of a number of 'aspirations' by the club at that time. I am still searching through my papers from those years, but I cannot remember any serious proposals being developed, and no City Council planning applications about it were ever made.

The last ugly "undeveloped gap site" in that part of the City Centre. Anything would be better than it currently is, and this Fanzone Building looks quite good for something that is just a temporary building designed to only last for three years .

St James' Park is in the City Centre, whereas Newcastle Arena is "on the edge" of the City Centre and feels more remote and more like it is actually outside of the city centre for the reason TomYam mentioned.
