  1. He certainly does not always get everything factually correct, but he tries to be factual and usually he achieves it. I am someone who believes in fact-based arguments and have received much criticism in the pre-takeover days for that. Peoples 'opinions' are sometimes amusing to listen to, but in discussion facts are best.
  2. Not in the slightest bit patronising, it shines out in so many of the comments about him. I have never found the need to judge the quality of peoples opinions based on their age, but that is a very common occurrence on here.
  3. I think he is just "too old" for some of the kiddiewinkies on here, that's all.
  4. No one has ever said about moving out of the City Centre, just about the Arena or Leazes Park Sites - both are in the City Centre!
  5. I hope you are wrong, but we will have to wait and see what the June 2024 Annual Accounts say.
  6. Our owners are very unlikely to do that, very unlikely. Promote from within and/or leave it as is!
  7. 2023 Income was £250M. It had increased by 40% each year since the takeover. So, another annual 40% (hopefully) plus Sela (£25M) plus Adidas (£35M) plus Champions League money (£37M) totals a lot more than £300M for the June 2024 Annual Accounts Total. Unless I have got (and maybe I have) some of the above figures wrong?
  8. There is no (what you call) 'optimism' in my post at all !!! There is a huge tendency amongst some people to only think "the way things are now" is basically the way things will always be. THAT completely limits what can happen, in peoples minds. With the right people involved, and we have the right people involved, how things are now can soon become a relic of a long forgotten past.
  9. My understanding of the character and culture of PIF is very different to that. They want to win, they are very intelligent and powerful and they 'intend' to win. Whatever it takes - 'no more mister nice guy' or whatever - they will win through. I suspect they already see the EPL and the Cartel as an enemy, and what are enemies for? To be BEATEN, that is what they are for!
  10. I suppose it depends what happened in the other two years of the three that are covered by FFP?
  11. https://fon.org.uk/ Leazes Park (like Exhibition Park) is on Town Moor land, so you would need to speak to these people - https://fon.org.uk/
  12. SJP and the Arena Site are both in the City Centre. My response was just to clarify that fact, as someone (not sure who) referred to NUFC "staying in the City", to which I said . . NO, not just in "the City", they need to stay in the CITY CENTRE !!! They are two very different places. I live in the City, but I am over five miles from the City Centre. That's all !
  13. The Club don't just want to stay in the City, they (quite rightly) want to stay in the City Centre.
  14. More like a Shanty Town !!
  15. One thing is for sure SJP is certainly not a brutalist building. Interestingly, the 1973 newly-built East Stand does have a 'hint' of brutalism in its use of materials for its construction.
  16. I agree and have said the same previously, we have probably already got the best out of Ashworth. He is a systems and organiser person. So . . . thanks and goodbye (and thanks for the £20M) !!!!!!
  17. Interesting on Total Sport (on Radio Newcastle) last night. A bloke called "Marco Gabbiadini" on there always strongly defends Sunderland Football Club. He always has and always exaggerates their "strengths" as a club and appears to live on his own planet. Yesterday it became apparent that he has finally accepted the realities of where Sunderland football club actually sits. He talked a fair bit about Sunderland, saying "where we are and how we need to buy young players to always sell on to big clubs - that is what we do". Seems like the penny has dropped - with one of their loudest mouths, at least !!!
  18. Since the club took them over they were immediately promoted as champions last season from the 4th 'tier' to the 3rd tier, where they are now. They will be promoted as champions again this season, to the "2nd tier" which (like the mens 2nd Division) is called "The Championship". Next season I am certain their intention will be promoted again immediately, this time to the top tier which is called "The Woman's Super League" / WSL.
  19. There will be very many top quality DoFs around Europe and the world who will be after our DoF post. Just because Ashworth suddenly decides he doesn't want it and refuses to finish off what he has started, doesn't mean that ANYONE else will agree with him!
  20. "backtracks and ends on the dole" more like. I cannot imagine any of our owners would touch him with a bargpole now !!!
  21. I like that scene !!! I like it V E R Y much !!!!!!!
  22. Seemingly, we need to "grow up" - https://strettynews.com/2024/02/21/sir-jim-ratcliffe-urges-newcastle-to-grow-up-following-absurd-sporting-director-demands/
  23. Logically, any income we get from his move to Manchester will be "income" to the club and will increase our turnover figure for FFP. It doesn't matter that it might get called "compensation" I do not see how it can be recorded as anything other than income, in the accounts.
  24. Money the club receives when players are sold is exactly the same when another staff member leaves, though the latter amount is rarely very large (though it will be large on this occasion). So yes, it is revenue, and will therefore will count as such for FFP
  25. Pretty much everything, certainly all of the hotels on the south side of the Tyne, as well as the newly planned Conference Centre and Arena, describe themselves as "NewcastleGateshead" . . . https://www.hok.com/news/2020-11/new-arena-exhibition-center-and-hotel-approved-for-newcastlegateshead-quays/
