Simply by the Saudi PIF being massively involved with us, there will be increased integration of Saudi Culture with UK culture. There will be huge numbers of opportunities for us to influence them (in this regard) rather more than the other way round. OK, they are already hugely active in the UK (as discussed many times) but the PIF and NUFC link will take it to another level, publicity-wise. This deal over the coming years will be very transformative (quietly perhaps at first) for the people of Saudi Arabia. It is a VERY good thing indeed, all round.

Over on Skyscraper City we are following the various proposals for that area closely, and we have a dedicated thread for it. There are certainly a lot of major plans and proposals in for the nearby "Forth Banks" area, the nearby "Heliport Site" area, and the nearby "Calders Yard" area. The current "Newcastle Arena" area is included within the remit for the thread, but while the City Council have expressed an opinion that the area could be used for housing in the future, there are no developments proposed for the site as yet. I think we will need to await the opening of the NewcastleGateshead Quays Arena before anything specific can be proposed for the current Arena Site. I remember well in the 1990s and early 2000s, I was working in Washington New Town (which is 'officially' part of the Sunderland Local Authority area) and that way more that half of those that were wearing football tops, were wearing Newcastle United Tops. I would imagine that it will become more and more like that again, over the coming years, and quite probably on a permanent basis !!

He will be gone long before then. They don't even have to panic-rush to appoint the new manager, though I'm sure they will act quickly, as they can just put Jones in charge for a match or two. They need to make the right appointment, not that any of us need to tell them that . . . or tell them anything . . . they know what they are doing, a weird concept that it will take a while for us all to get used to!

The only way to ever transform countries and leaders of countries to adopt (what we consider to be) more civilised behaviours, is by talking to them, trading with them, and 'bringing them in' from the cold. That really is the only real way to transform them, though it may take a while. I have to also say that if (at the same time) they can invest a lot of money in our football club . . . then it is a W I N / W I N !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
