  1. The happiest I have been as a supporter (for over 38 years) has been when we were challenging for the title. As we were 'seriously' under KK, 'almost' under Dalglish, and 'almost' (again) under SBR. So (simply) that is what I want to happen to this club - whatever it takes (in the modern game) to asap get us back into that position again. What I'm trying to say is - I'm not "demanding they do this" or "demanding they spend that" - I just want them to get us back to what we have had so recently. It is GREAT fun to be challenging for the title! Nothing better. So, whatever it takes . . . thats all.
  2. Well in a way, but the only reason the backroom setup is pissing people off is because it led to Keegan walking out. If the manager had been working with it OK, we would still be saying the players were good quality and the whole thing was a brilliant idea. It didn't need for much to change either - just for Wise to report to/work to/work for Keegan (rather than the other way round) and the structure would have worked. All this 'angst' would then have been avoided.
  3. That's a good point as well Dave, the same could be said about Keegan. I'm a bit disappointed in Ashley for giving up so easily. He could have easily released that same statement except with a few sentences changed to things like 'I've got the message but I'll show you it's for the best what I'm doing', and 'I hope you'll welcome me back when I come and sit with the fans again soon', and he might have been able to calm things down a bit. That said, it seems he wants NUFC as a hobby and as something to do on a Saturday, so if he couldn't go to the games and enjoy himself then I suppose the shine went off the whole thing for him. He needs to realise though that a good manager appointed and a top-10 finish would have seen him a hero again. Fans really are that fickle, as we've proved the last couple of weeks. Top 10 - I don't think so! Wait a minute, some people I know would have been happy with that. Incredible. As for now . . . staying in the Premier league is not even certain with all this disruption following a very poor summer . . .
  4. A hat trick! Suspect he meant 'owner' not chairman.
  5. An excellent example of a newspaper report that is "100% made up". Absolutely 100% manufactured out of someones 'thoughts' about what might have happened and may happen! In this amazing mess though (that we are all in) IT COULD EASILY TURN OUT TO BE TRUE!!!! Bizarre - we thought we were a 'front page' (rather than back page) club in the past (which we were) but N O W . . . !!! When will it ever end??
  6. Aye, they went really overboard with that. We were 2,100 down on capacity, with over 50,000 there. 96% full. Ooooh, so rubbish! There's no way there was over 50k in SJP yesterday. I sit in the East Stand and I could plainly see swathes of empty seats in the Milburn which is the biggest stand in the ground. They've inflated the figures. Do they just count ALL the season tickets (as they are pre-sold) as 'attending', then just add in tickets sold and away team tickets sold, to get the total? Otherwise, I agree, the figure looks very wrong.
  7. Why? He's tried to bring him back. Might be further discussions at a later date for all we know. The club needs to make a statement - Keegan has, via the LMA it seems. Prefer it in Ashley's own words.
  8. THAT was in a different lifetime (even if correct) . . . A whole DIFFERENT lifetime (from now). Things - for Ashley - have completely changed now , , , Nothing's changed. In a month this will have all blown over. Be outside and around and then in the ground tomorrow - then tell me nothing has changed and it will all blow over in a month!!
  9. Source? Was in Arabian business weekly or something, was a story from the guy who broke news of the City takeover first. Also if I'm correct it had quotes from the guy who's taken over saying he looked at 3 clubs and Newcastle were one of them. Even if correct - this is not relevant to the current situation (in my view).

  11. Don't understand that. This is GREAT news. They ARE going to buy us. They want us. Now we know . . . Ashley (though 'stubborn') will sell. When he 'wakes up and smells the roses' he will NOT want to keep us. Its p e r f e c t !!!! We should ALL be -
  12. INDIAN billionaire Anil Ambani says he has pulled out of a deal trying to buy Newcastle United. A spokesman for his Reliance Group said this afternoon: “We are no longer interested in buying Newcastle because of the turbulent conditions which currently exist there and because we have been unable to have any satisfying talks with anyone from the club.” http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/09/12/indian-pulls-out-of-toon-bid-72703-21806757/ Oh fuckin' hell. *Sigh* What's next for us, eh? ACTUALLY - THIS IS F A N T A S T I C NEWS! On the assumption that the story is true (big assumption, I know) that means that they have been trying to buy us . . so all the stories in the press about comments attributed to them saying "we were NEVER interested in buying Newcastle United or any Premier League club" were obviously untrue. They ARE after us !!!!! Saying publicly that "they are no longer interested in buying Newcastle United because of the turbulent conditions which currently exist there and because we have been unable to have any satisfying talks with anyone from the club” is simply part of the tactics . . to get things moving! They WANT US folks . . . they do!! Is it a good thing? . . . I'll say so!! IT IS GONNA HAPPEN PEOPLE . . . I really want to share you're optimism ManorPark and understand the reasoning but I still can't see it happening. BELIEVE it

  15. I can hear them whispering already... "sheep"... "cockney sympathiser"... Still, its great when someone else seems to think as you do, makes the world go round . . .
  16. He thinks (no, he 'knows') that we are irrelevant to him, so he has (and always will) treat us like an irrelevancy . . ie, like sh*t. yep, he has been given loads of stick by his share holders and the stock exchange (after taking their money) and refuses to communicate with any of them only referring to them as “cry babies” – which is probably what the t*** thinks of NUFC fans – “cry babies”. which is a true reflection on quite a few tbh. The truth hurts Mr OK. You just watch how he behaves from now on towards us. Eventually you will all realise what he (our owner) thinks of us (and that includes even YOU) which isn't my point. we're acting like little kids who want our mummy, look at the statement released by true faith as an example. I'm far from convinced by Ashley, and i think he has made some terrible mistakes, but noone is giving ashley any chance to try and make up for that. its either leave or we'll continue boycotting. there's no middle ground. I'm also not taking sides on this yet, you say all that with f*** all to back it up, it may be true, or it may be bullshit, but you've made up your mind that ashley is in the wrong and he needs to go. This is sort of the point I was trying to make about that statement released by True Faith and The Mag. While coming to all sorts of emotional and dangerous conclusions based on nothing more than conjecture, they have issued a rallying cry against the owner. No solutions other than pie in the sky wishful thinking that another mega-billionaire is waiting in the wings to conveniently snap up the toon. In the meantime, the club suffers, the team suffers and ultimately the fans suffer. All this and we don't even know the true story of what went on, yet these supposedly responsible representatives of the fans have waded in as judge and jury to deliver a one-eyed verdict. Cretins. got to admit i'd have expected better from mark jenson. For me, Ashley's prolonged and very deliberate silence speaks volumes.
  17. He thinks (no, he 'knows') that we are irrelevant to him, so he has (and always will) treat us like an irrelevancy . . ie, like sh*t. were you saying he treat us like s*** before KK left? He behaved well towards us back then. He had NO REASON not to. He has a reason 'not to' now (as he now knows what most of us think of him).

I heard he'd never play the piano again either. That's because he never could... Oh wait news just in....he's dead. Oh well, a Wise signing anyway, KK had never heard of him. Its true, piano playing was never really his forte, but he is a real dead loss at it now . . . (you wise guy, you!)

If only Keegan hadn't agreed to sell Milner I wish I knew the way down 'tunnel vision road' to 'planet fantasy' Then, I would be deleriously happy! (or just delerious . . . )

Not sure if I have seen too many saying that "they always knew" . . . but I have seen a fair few alive people saying "they now know". In life . . . you learn from experience. (or most of us do).

It's ok, don't worry about it!! We have a very large squad of world class players thanks to us having a very rich billionaire owner who has appointed a great manager and he has fully supported him in the transfer market and let him 'manage' the way we (and he) know he can. Thats why he bought the club and then appointed the manager. Case proven - and its gonna be a GREAT season . . . THAT'S WHAT WE SHOULD BE SAYING. We are not saying that, though - are we. What an unmitigated disaster we are now, what an "unnecessary" unmitigated disaster we are now. A month or so ago, people laughed when I said there was "something wrong with our club, something 'smelly' at our club". Thanks Ashley.
