More positive questions please!

Really don't like this - discussing player's contracts on a radio show. Wish the question hadn't been asked. Doesn't help any potential negotiations and doesn't look great from an outside perspective in my opinion.

Whilst, like most, I have a bitter taste in my mouth from Smith's contribution as a player and the total cost it took to have him here, I'm willing to let Pardew and co decide whether Smith would be any good as a coach. Good players don't always make good coaches, and all good coaches weren't necessarily great players. Ultimately, if he's a good coach then I don't really care what he was like as a player.

Aye cos Shearer never got fouled relentlessly....... Didnt watch MOTD but Shearer is oldschool, he made a career from getting twatted(and gave it back naturally) Don';t get me wrong I loved Shearer as a player and still like him now. But that wasn't really my point. I just felt like he was trying to make some sort of point with his laughing, felt forced. I could obviously be wrong, just my interpretation.

What was with Shearer laughing? Something to do with the spat between him and Joey when he managed for 8 games? Didn't think it was on like. Nothing funny about the way he was hammered all game long, could easily have gone too far and ended his career. Some of the tackles were beyond a joke. Joey showed some real class to just get on with it.

The guy has come across really well in all of the interviews he's given. Sounds like an articulate, intelligent lad. I wish him all the best and hope he proves a few wrong in doing so.

considering how long he was on the pitch i thought he did mint. he was in the right position at least for the first one (admittedly should have scored) and scored his second chance. he's only 19 and for me is the most promising thing about our club at times.

Went here last night. Nice pub, good interior and that. Friendly staff and the rumour of £2 a pint if you're in a toon top is true. Not many geordies in last night though. I'd definitely consider going again but it'd be nice if there were more toon fans. Thanks to the OPer for the heads up. Just moved down here so it's nice to not feel totally alone.
