Well, you should start with buying a new pair of pants and calming down.

Rubbish, they wanted Redknapp for the job he's done as Portsmouth, he's actually done a good job. They will look at other options, options which could be better in the end than what they were originally looking for. Precisely Mick. It may be a blessing in disguise...

I couldn't believe this too. Sanchez!?!? Pearce?!? I mean WTF!?!?
-
Hughes I'd be happy with. McLaren I'd hang myself.
-
The wisest move we could make, given our current climate.
-
Same thing mate.
-
Not if it leads to us brining in Shearer or McLaren.

Just been watching this on SSN. Have to say, I expected Harry to stay with Pompey over coming to us. He's only a stones throw from 4th with very good players after half a season, why take a backwards step coming here.
-
Great signing for Chelsea. Man Utd should have been in there for him too really. Drogba and Anelka upfront will ruin a lot of teams.
-
Why would Redknapp come to us? I mean he's doing very well with Portsmouth. They are 5 points from 4th and have some cracking players. Future is brighter for him there than coming here and starting again, with the added pressure that he will be sacked in a years time if we are again around 11th in the table.
-
I'd be happy with Redknapp, if he is given money to spend immediately to sort some of our problems out. But is it wise to bring another 4-3-3 man in when clearly we can't play it?

This is one of reasons that I made this thread, to see what peoples expectations of Sam were. It's funny, in recent weeks I've seen a lot of "Big Sam Out" comments, however I've not read much from these people now. The majority are shocked and think he should have had more time, yet the polls suggested 50/50 split. Perhaps people are more shocked that they got there knee jerked wish. The sadest thing about this all, is that it may take even longer with the next manager to get back in to Europe than it would have been if we just stuck with Sam.

If we get Mourinho, I will jizz everywhere. Think the contact thing was right, although perhaps that only applied to clubs in Champions League or something. Never know the finer details of these clauses. Lady Owen had an odd one.

It McLaren gets the job, there should be a fucking riot. That ginger cunt is rubbish. I refuse to believe SSN about us NOT going for a foreign coach.

Don't know. Why not last week? why not end of season if things haven't worked out? the timing suggests to me they plan to get another man in asap so he can spend to put things right. I'm guess Sam has gone for one of these reasons... 1. He's lost the plot infront of Mort and Ashley over buying players cause of the African Cup, despite him knowing that this would be coming last Summer. 2. He's lost the players in a massive row, perhaps transfer requets have been slapped in behind the scences. 3. Perhaps Oliver was right, a big name has offered to take over and it was too irresistable chance to miss. 4. They firimly believe Sam is not he man given recent form. I can't really think of much else, but I'm hoping its number 3.

I'm really shocked. Just found out. Can't believe it really... things have not been going that well of late, but I always felt we would back Sam and that probably next year we'd start to see a difference and an improvement in the results. Guess he's either lost the plot behind the scences and the club think we should be getting rid, or they already have a big name lined up. Could Alan Oliver be right! - still unlikely, but what he said about a manager that blew Mort's socks off wanting the job may justify this action. I hope Oliver is right, we need a massively experienced manager to step in and sort things out. Feel sorry for Sam in a way, he hasn't had the time to really deliver what he wanted, but the performances of late were not good enough. Perhaps he had lost the players behind the scenes... Best of luck to Sam in future, fingers crossed we do get a some massive manager. We need one badly.

You forgot to mention the wages saving. Give those kids £3k a week contracts, and you are still paying less than Owen's wages.

Argyle youth coach didn't really value him like that, and believe Tozer wanted pro contract and Argyle were not prepared to offer it yet. Think the previous youth guy at Plymouth went to Swindon when Sturrock went there, he always believed in Tozer so took him from Argyle and signed him up pro. Few games later, he's suddenly off to Newcastle for £1.1 million. Bet Argyle are kicking themselves now though, could have made some money or at least got some decent games out of him for a bit. Some people down here slate the youth setup at the club, although Dan Gosling and Paul Connolly are doing well. Luke McCormick is a decent keeper too. Gosling just sold to Everton for £1.5m. Only played 20 games, and he's 17.
-
Hope we are intending to play him as a centre back eventually, as that's his best and natural position. Heard he's been signed to play left back though. Apparnetly he's very good at listening what coaches have to say and taking that on board, and showing that he's listened in his performances. Coaches find him easy to work with and he learns fast. Hope he does well for us, and for himself.

Butt's ban is a massive blow... because it means we will see more of Smith in midfield! I find it hard to believe people are singling Butt out here. I don't believe he has played as bad as people make out, especially last night. Butt's game is about breaking up play and winning the ball back, but due to how bad Smith was, he also had to cover up for his headless chicken runs & slide tackles, and also was called upon to pile forward and offer passes in the final 3rd or shots. I never expect Butt to be sending players through 1 on 1 or smashing in 30 yard screamers, but he's all we got and despite his effort, he looked shit going forward. If we had a decent creative CM we could keep Butt doing what he does best, playing DM and keeping Smith out of midfield.
-
Surely playing him is counter prodcutive to your arguement, as he is so fucking gash in midfield he is costing us games indirectly. Smith creates the illusion that we have 11 men when in fact we have 10 men and one headless chicken.

Come on James. We were lucky not to be beat at Stoke away, and you think we have a chance of beating Arsenal away? Wish you were right, but it will be a mauling at the Emirates judging by our current form.
