I was sat in the South West corner on Tuesday, watched Aguero the whole time he was stood offside to see if he got back onside at any point, right up to the point at which Kolarov struck the ball (which you could actually hear as well as see out of the corner of your eye) and even without being bang in line with the play I could see immediately that he was about 2 yards offside. Absolutely staggering that the linesman didn't raise his flag for it, just complete and utter incompetence to get something like that so clearly wrong from a set piece.

The fact that the only person willing to stand up and say something to try and provoke a reaction in this side is a 22 year old who has been at the club less than a year says it all about the rest of the heartless cowards we have in the team. Yep, we look like we're going to be very good going forward but, against the better teams, our dodgy defence is going to be torn to shreds. I don't trust any combination of Smalling / Cahill / Jagielka / Stones and whichever full backs we go with are also pretty poor defensively.

No, his whole 'philosophy' is entirely dependent on individuals creating something from nothing. He had it here with Ben Arfa, Cisse in his first season who would score outrageous goals from barely half chances, then Ba and Remy who would score goals with practically no service at all. As soon as he lost that there was no structure or gameplan whereby the team could be better than the sum of its parts. Essentially, he's a shit manager with zero tactical nous. But then we all know that anyway, so not sure why I've just spent a few minutes repeating it for myself

Admittedly I haven't seen very much of them at all this season, but when I have this seems to be their entire approach. Give it wide and hope they go on a mazy run and create something out of nothing, failing that lob it into the box.

I posted something along these lines in the football pet hates thread. It's like this most weeks. Sometimes, a ref takes about 2 minutes to lecture a player and card them. Plus subs, goals, injuries, time wasting. Added time. 3 minutes. I've noticed in a few of our games that if we're chasing a goal it's 3-4 minutes max. If we're a goal ahead, look forward to a nice juicy 7 minutes of added time.
