cnt really explain why but i thought he was important today. Used his pace well. I liked the way he roamed about first half trying to link up play. Plus he had assou-ekotto on the back foot quite alot which helped peg him back and stop him attacking us

He seems to have improved with each season he has been here which is good as some players often get progressively worse (arshavin) I have far more confidence now that when he is running at people and cutting in that his final product could be a decent cross or shot whereas before 8 out of 10 times you knew it would be poor. Is he 27 now? Maybe he's a late bloomer

Think people are abit eager to jump on him. The game was being played at a high pace when he came on and he clearly is still getting up to speed. He didn't have that explosiveness to get away from people like he will when he's played more games but each little cameo will help so as long as he isn't costing us points it's fine. Hopefully we can give him a longer cameo against wigan as they look poor at the moment.

yep i think best has played well and his build up play has really improved, he is creating good chances for others. The one he set up for ba in the 2nd half against wolves was all his own work and was brilliant play.

simply cnt see pardew starting santon untill we lose a game. Same probs applies to ben arfa although if one of obertan/best/ba form drops at all then he will be in. But for what its worth i thought all 3 played very well first half.

Agree with everyone else. The decision to put on lovenkrands was a shocker but the lads at the back were absolute class. Put bodies on the line. Lost count of the number of last ditch fifa-esqe blocks. Sign of good times ahead if we can defend that well despite playing poorly 2nd half. Plus we look dangerous as fuck on the break and could have had a few more if we were more cynical. the Ba chance 2nd half springs to mind. 3 more points, get in!!!!!

It's a breath of fresh air compared to Shola's performances so far this season.

His flick on headers to Ba were incredible! and even the ones he didnt win seemed to drop down to a newcastle player most of the time.

Think this guy is a bit trigger happy with the bookings. Set the tone for himself with the early soft booking for adam and then had to send him off and now basically every tackle is a yellow card. Don't like refs like that it spoils the game. Still liverpool getting dicked on. Happy with that

I think this was the first game we got to see how Pardew see's this team, Shame it's taken until the 5th game to see it but hey were unbeaten. I was worried at the start that playing the way we did we were susceptible to the counter and that proved the case with the goal but the rest of the game they defended fairly well. But we finally saw the possession and pace on the wings play that Pardew had talked about in pre-season and except for abit of fortune with some of our chances we should have won.

Cabaye as we all predicted could become buy of the season! Weakest link was Obertan. He did good things, some of his runs were good but his laziness off the ball and his final ball were very poor. But overall everyone played well and but for shay fucking given we would have won Well played lads!

wow best we have played all season and were behind after almost their first attack. Shit that were trailing but the positives are a very good silver lining because i didnt know we were capable of playing this good a game of possesion and quick incisive passing. We do look like finding goals is guna be a problem as all the commentators/pundits keep telling us and villa look very dangerous on the break and they will probs score again on the break. It's like they are the away team! especially with the noise our fans are making, very impressive.
