Miguel Almiron is set to bring his Newcastle nightmare to an end after an ex- Premier League winner confirmed talks for the winger. The Paraguayan’s opportunities have dried up at St James’ Park this season. He has made just one Premier League start this season and has just 18 months remaining on his deal. Newcastle have been trying to move on the 30-year-old in order to make space in their squad. And it now appears that a deal has been struck. According to The Sun 😁 MLS side Charlotte FC have agreed a £16m deal for Almiron. The Paraguayan was linked with the club in the summer but saw a move collapse. Former Premier League winner, Christian Fuchs , who is an assistant to Dean Smith with the American side, has already confirmed ongoing discussions. As quoted by Sky Sports, he said: “He’s a great player but I don’t really want to talk about him as he hasn’t signed yet. “There are always a lot of names being associated with Charlotte FC and all I know is that once it is signed, Almiron will be a great addition to our club and I would really look forward to him joining us and playing for us. “We are very ambitious, coming up into our fourth year and it has been a steady progression within the club, within the MLS and we are really looking forward to getting going again. We are coming back on January 12th, going into pre season, and it is going to be a great season ahead.” Almiron joined Newcastle from Atlanta United in 2019 for a then club record £21m. He has since made 219 appearances in all competitions, scoring 30 goals.
