  1. Don't know why people are so surprised/outraged by those comments. In my experience, Everton fans are good lads but usually have this cuntish attitude towards our club.
  2. Harper Anita Taylor Williamson Santon Ben Arfa Cabaye Bigirimana Jonas Ba Cisse Looks like this is how we'll be lining up. Not optimistic for this, but there's enough quality in there to get a result imo.

I must have imagined my grandparents and relatives calling it hookah (huqqah) then . . . . Meh, fair enough. Every Pakistani and Indian person I know calls it shisha, all my Arab friends call it shisha, and everyone in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria (the places I've lived in) call it shisha. In my experience it's only the Americanized Arabs (the ones who grew up in the States) who say "hookah" and they get ridiculed in much the same way as an American would calling football "soccer"... Pedantry aside, I put milk in my...hookah (just sounds wrong man ) makes for a thicker and smoother smoke.

"Hookah" it's a shisha and that 200 fag thing is a complete myth; the smoke gets filtered through water so, while it's not exactly good for you, it's nowhere near the equivalent of 200 cigarettes in one session. hookah and sheesha are the same thing, just depends where in the world you're from Grew up in the middle-east and no-one calls it hookah man. Not even Indian people (they came up with the word), everyone just says shisha. That filtered through water thing is a complete myth. There hasn't been enough long-term research into the effects of smoking shisha but to say that the water doesn't filter the smoke in some way is just ludicrous; that's what its there for. That "200 cigarette" line I've been hearing since I was 11 despite seeing no empirical evidence of any kind justifying that claim, whereas:

  7. If we win, we'll do it by 1 goal and defend for dear life at the end.
  8. We have a fully fit Ben Arfa now, which we didn't have for more than half a season last season. We have Cisse now that we only had from January onwards. We have Marveaux now who we didn't have at all last season. Almost the same goes for Steven Taylor. Don't think we're weaker even compared to with other clubs. Think the only side that really did have a great transfer window was Chelsea. Outrageous statement that like, nearly every club looks stronger particularly the sides chasing us - Liverpool, Swansea, Fulham and Everton. Was going to post the transfers for all those teams you mentioned. Thanks for saving me the time; agreed, saying that the premier league isn't stronger this year is crazy.
  9. Just because we have the same squad (bar 1 first-team addition) as last year doesn't mean we still have a team capable of reaching Europe again. We're effectively weaker this season than last, relatively speaking (despite not losing anybody), as the clubs around us have strengthened and we haven't to the same extent. It's just so disappointing that we won't capitalize on what was a terrific season last year and push on; it wouldn't have taken massive investment either...
  10. I know I can't often make this claim but so far this season he's our only player with an assist from open play and he was putting in crosses against Chelsea that nobody got on the end of, or at least nothing came from them. I'd have Debuchy in a heartbeat as I think he'll upgrade what we've got. I just don't think Simpson is as bad as made out, he can defend and has offered more this season going forward than normal, maybe he can learn and move his game on. The problem is when we play a 4-4-2 with Ben Arfa on the right cutting in and Jonas being constrained to neutralizing the opposition wingers we're left depending on the fullbacks for width. As Santon usually cuts in on his stronger foot that leaves most of the crossing to be done by a right-back who, in most cases, struggles to pick out our strikers with a good delivery. The "assist" against Spurs was more of a mistake by their defender (followed by a cracking finish) than a great ball on Simpson's part. Not a bad player by all means but we rely on him to help out in attack and he's quite limited in that respect.
  11. Disagree. His crossing is what lets him down most of the time; Santon is a right footer playing at left-back which means he's often cutting in on his right or crossing the ball with his weaker foot.
  12. Like the first bit in bold doing whay you say in the 2nd? Wouldn't say that was an exaggeration myself, his qualities are in the defensive aspect of his game. Speaking in relative terms, i think contributing "absolutely nothing going forward" is a reasonably sound evaluation tbh.
  13. He's easily our weakest link and offers absolutely nothing going forward; people are just frustrated that we haven't made the signing that everyone knows would improve us. That leads to people lamenting the fact that he starts and consequently exaggerating his ineptitude.
  14. Try coming to Manila. All we have is a national team of half-bloods who play once every two months. The only ground in the city is a 20k seater, and it only gets up to 8k unless it's a World Cup qualifier. Our main chant is a mix of hysteric screaming and We Let the f***ing Dogs out. At least you have a club. We don't. Kumusta, where in Manilla do you live? Got a place in Makati, and wondering where you catch the games. Star sports is f***ing useless so whenever I'm there I always miss our matches. Haha, I did see someone wearing a banana Toon kit in a Makati mall a few months back. Wonder if that was you. I live in Pasig, and yes, Star Sports is pretty useless. Although, you can try Balls (local channel) as I've heard they would be venturing into the Europa League starting this season. I was there around February but I don't have that yellow kit so it couldn't have been me . Yeah I've seen Balls (could have phrased that better) but didn't realise they had actual football on it, just assumed it was all the crappy Azkal matches.

I rate Jonas, his versatility and engine are a massive boon but as a winger Adam Johnson is on another level. What's that got to do with it. Who are you going to take out of our current starting 11 to accomodate Johnson? Jonas? Thank god you are not our manager. Jonas is arguably the most important player in our starting 11. Should we play 4-4-2, I'd rather have Johnson on the wing than Jonas.

I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. Don't feel sorry, you're in the minority. Happy to be in the minority if it means I'm right.

Johnson would; better than all of our wingers bar Ben Arfa.
