Yeah, I don’t think we really sat back up 2-0 and I think often when it seems like we are this is actually the problem. We just give away the ball - sometimes through sloppiness and sometimes trying to force a break. But we’d be much better served when leading to just control the ball.

Ignoring the opposition there was definitely a fire lit for the start of this. Love that second goal. Sloppy, scrappy chaos that I always feel like we’re on the verge of creating but often fizzles.

You’re trying to completely discredit what is an imperfect but useful statistic just because it’s not perfect. None of these stats explain everything, but they do provide useful context. We’re still +11 if you include the bottom 3 in that big chances chart btw.

Sometimes we struggle to create much of anything but we also fail convert time and again. Our season depends on Wissa IMO.

What frustrates me with the criticisms of our recruitment or players we wish we had is that in many cases we were linked with them. And they are, with very few exceptions, very good players. Some of those players were seen as incredibly underwhelming to many on here at the time. We, unfortunately, can’t sign everyone usually because of money or sometimes lack of prestige, but time and again Eddie has proven he has an eye for a player (also why I’m willing to give Elanga and Ramsey more time). The best argument against Eddie in terms of player trading is stubbornly holding onto his guys. This is where another voice in the room is needed, but also where maintaining mentality / leadership is often overlooked, so it’s a tricky balance.

We had issues before but no Pope and no Burn makes us very soft.

At least be fair. No one can say with a straight face that not having Targett in the squad was a mistake. You can complain about Wissa’s age and cost. His injury does not make him a shit signing. Thiaw is a goddamn revelation and the type of cheaper continental signing this board has been dying for. No need to add “looked ropey these last two games.”

Quite sure we’ll finish strong in the league, but we have so many games between now and March that I’m not sure what we’ll realistically be able to make up when that run starts.

Another goal that you can’t be too angry with him. You can’t be totally sure Pope would have done better. There’s nothing egregious. It’s just a steady drip of saving only the bare minimum and watching points disappear by the week.
