Prices rise and all that, but £75m would make him a top 25 transfer of all time. He'd be level with VVD for the third highest fee ever for a defender, behind Maguire and Gvardiol.

My son just asked me what’s the worst professional league in the world and who’s at the bottom of it? What say you?
-
I’d take Hall out for Tino or Kelly.
-
Tell them they'll be banned for next season > they sort out their issues > UEFA agrees to forego punishments since Chelsea has worked hard to be compliant
-
Yes, he had been out for almost a month.
-
Hope he's ok. I just feel bad for him and for us not getting to watch him.
-
It's been 45 minutes but...
-
You can see why Eddie couldn’t trust him last season.
-
Seems slightly over the top. He's also been quite lively.
-
His reaction would tell you that's something more than a bad bruise. So incredibly unlucky.
-
How is that not a foul?
-
A healthy Willock is incredible.

Goal before pre-match thread closed.

We've probably been sitting on a when Miggy is sold plan for 3 months now. The problem is that plan has stalled out on step one.
-
Not sure which of those two things would be worse news.

I had resigned myself to nothing happening and come to terms with it. These new links have provided a hope that will be crushing.

The actual fees were somewhat meaningless in June for satisfying that three year period. But for this and future accounting periods what @r0cafella is saying is right. Vlachodimos costs us £6-7m per year. That's more than Anderson and Minteh cost us combined, so it's now a net negative for a useless player. What's done is done, desperate times and all that. There could have been worse outcomes, but it's certainly not ideal.

The data that shows Premier League clubs are buying younger to avoid potential nightmares https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/08/27/data-shows-premier-league-clubs-buying-younger-avoid-crisis Key points: In the 2014-15 season, the average age of all Premier League signings was older than 25. So far this summer, the average age of all Premier League signings is 23. Players aged 26 to 30 have generated a total of £271 million in transfer fees paid by Premier League clubs this summer. For players aged 21 to 25, that figure stands at £970 million. More than £300 million, meanwhile, has been spent on teenagers — compared to just £58 million for those in their 30s Some numbers that show why now more than ever it's very difficult to shift the likes of Almiron, Wilson, Trippier, and Targett.

It’s not exactly no risk. I’m surprised they gave him a four year contract. He could easily end up being a waste of >£5m a year until 2028. But it’s much easier for them to swallow that if necessary than it would be for us.

Bright side - probably better City / Arsenal / Liverpool now than in a two-legged semifinal or at Wembley.
-
I know he’s meant to be a model pro, but if he really is set on coming here there’s also risk on Palace’s end of blocking his move over what is likely a few million pounds, the shape of add-ons, or payment terms.

I promise this isn't a don't worry about the transfer window post, but Tonali might end up being such an upgrade on Longstaff that it transforms the right side to the point that we don't even care we didn't get a new RW. It's what I'm clinging to at this point.
