  1. I'm ready for Barnes left and Elanga on the right. If he can't use his pace effectively in the gaps they are leaving then I'm not sure what hope there is.
  2. One of the first times I've seen Nick make the complete wrong decision. Barnes was through there.
  3. If we're clinical we might score 4 or 5 here. The space they are leaving behind is insane.
  4. Happy about Barnes. Still think him and Big Nick could become deadly together with more practice. I don't think Pope is even remotely close to losing his position. Have no idea why so many want him to.
  5. And so it begins: The harsh truth for Alexander Isak: Liverpool look better off without him https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-fc-alexander-isak-real-madrid-harsh-truth-4022311
  6. This board is now using the word jeopardy more than Alex Trebek. There'd be plenty of fucking jeopardy if we didn't have six points on the board and we really need that to be nine after tonight.
  7. For various reasons those don't count.
  8. I don't think there's any evidence that the business side did a bad job, but given the obstacles in our way we need them to overachieve in the way Eddie has done on the pitch and I don't think you can argue they've done that either. We need Hopkinson to raise the ceiling, so this seems promising.
  9. I think you can tbh unless there's some big surprise in the next accounts (which I assume not given his sacking). This is actually very encouraging from Hopkinson and gives some hope we can go to another level.
  10. I keep seeing mentions of this and it's fine if you didn't like some of the business, but this statement also seems to ignore the colossal sized elephant rat in the room.
  11. The odds of a new manager coming in and improving on these things while also maintaining all that is good about Eddie are so astronomically low. You'd be wanting to find someone who can overachieve at a higher rate than the current person is overachieving.
  12. I question what anyone wants from their football club if you can't get excited about this. We have a near zero chance of winning the league with our current finances, so rightly our #1 goal last season (aside from a cup trophy) was to qualify for this competition and now we're in it and everyone is worried about the league again. This game will mark the halfway point of the CL league phase and we have a chance to be in the top 8 when it's over. If you're worried about our league form preventing us from being in the CL again and what that means financially then consider this: Every win is worth ~£2m Each league place is worth a minimum of £241k and there is a £1.75m bonus for finishing top 8 and an £875k bonus for 9-16. Qualifying for the Round of 16 grants a £9.6m bonus So five wins in the group phase would roughly offset the revenue from three places in the league table. Finishing 8th to go straight to the Round of 16 plus the revenue from one extra home game would be roughly the same as the guaranteed CL payment. You also get a much more favorable draw from that position and the coefficient bonus would help us in future years. We'll have plenty more good and bad days against the likes of West Ham, Fulham, and Crystal Palace. We should enjoy the European journey while we have it and and it can go a long way to offsetting the financial part of missing out on the CL next year, especially if we can get into one of the other competitions.
  13. We're currently 8th in the Champions League and in yet another cup quarterfinal, but somehow people are hell bent on inventing a crisis.
  14. There were times early last season when I thought he didn't want to be here. I don't think that's the case now, but I don't think it's a coincidence that his best performances have come against the likes of USG, Benfica, Latvia, and Wales, and I said so after the Benfica match. The problem likely isn't his mental state or wanting to showcase himself in certain games -- it's that he's unplayable when he has physical advantages against the opposition fullback, but when he doesn't (e.g. Wan Bissaka) his lack of technical ability really holds him back.
  15. 15 new pages How predictable. Not a chance I’m reading.
  16. Which is just more evidence that we have an uncanny eye for a player.
