Definitely includes wages.

Worth noting that, just like last time there was a vote that led to pages upon pages of speculation, this was another vote to pursue / develop something. Nothing became a rule today. The real vote(s) happen in June.

The BBC article definitely seems to suggest that this spending cap would be instead of the current / proposed changes to PSR, which would be a massive difference. No idea if that's based on real information or just a massive assumption they are making.

Seems to me like the Premier League (the league itself to be clear) is missing an opportunity to absolve itself of much of the burden of this regulation. It would be so much simpler for them if they just had a couple basic rules with transparent penalties. One could mimic UEFA's Solvency pillar, which has to do with overdue payments (this could be a genuinely good rule to protect the viability of football clubs). The second could be this anchoring-based spending cap, which puts a (very high) ceiling on the top end to at least maintain a cloak of competitiveness. The rest of it just leave to UEFA. The top 7-ish clubs at minimum would have to abide by UEFA's more stringent rules and, in reality, almost everyone would have to be thinking about it or be prepared to forfeit their place in a European competition.

The speculation around this is slowly killing me. I just want to fast forward to when we know what the actual rules are.

I think City are just opposed to any financial ruling at this point. Their opposition is different than the other three.

It's dumb and a cliche but it's all about the first goal in these away games. We haven't gotten anything from an away game in which we've conceded first since West Ham in October. We haven't won an away game coming from behind since Brentford in April.
-
Not crazy to think Man United could only get one point from their next two. I don’t feel great about our run-in though.

13 the most goals ever scored against a single opponent (PL era).

Anyone know what the biggest aggregate win is in a PL season?

A draw would be excellent. I’m sure it’ll go off McTominay’s prick in the 99th minute though.

Gonna need four today.

Is he basically just a GK coach at this point?

Turn a profit? Invest in infrastructure? Academy? Community? Women’s football?

It puts a ceiling on what the very top clubs can do. If you're going to have all of the other rules then it makes sense from a sporting perspective, otherwise the gap between the top and bottom will grow forever. It being a 5x multiple is less helpful than if it were 4x or 4.5x, but that's just the power the top clubs have.

Fuck off Dan.

Agree with this. Might have stayed in Europe too.

Confident we'll destroy them. Jekyll and Hyde.

Weak up and down both flanks tonight. I don't even know who is most at fault but not good enough from Gordon, Barnes, Longstaff, Anderson, or Murphy.
-
Longstaff is so bad at diving that he turned an obvious penalty into a goal kick and booking for himself.
-
They did nothing in the last 15-20 min. That wasn't pretty but it's all there for us.
-
If it happened it would have a small indirect benefit for us in that it would put a ceiling on the likes of City. But it's still a very high limit and all of the other restrictions would still be there so it wouldn't change anything in terms of what we can/can't spend.

Irrationally annoyed that here in the US our game is the one on TV but they gave all of the attention including the teams walking out to the Merseyside Derby.
