    Anthony Gordon

There was a time we had no choice, but there were chances to rest Gordon in the last few weeks and we didn't.

The concerning thing is the non-contact part. Really hope it's not an ACL or something that stretches into next season.

Feel terrible for him. We ran him into the ground.
  4. I know not everything is his fault, but I can't wait to never see Dubravka again.
  5. It's pretty clear it will be higher than the 70% UEFA is heading to, so that part is fine. But any club with European aspirations is going to need to trend closer to 70%.
  6. Got it, think you're going to be disappointed then. I'd be shocked if the calculation didn't include amortised fees for one.
  7. Also a reminder that UEFA has published punishments for exceeding their cost control ratios, which is a fine based on the % over the limit and the number of consecutive years it's been broken. We haven't gotten the most important detail yet from the PL, which is will we know what the punishments are and are they fines or potentially points deductions.
  8. This is just wages. Almost certainly the new rules will match UEFA's, which is wages + amortisation / revenue. We must have been under 90% for 2023, but my guess is we weren't far below. Also remember that UEFA operates on calendar years and I'm guessing the PL will continue to follow the club's normal accounting years.
  9. I look forward to the games. I dread the reaction on here.
  10. Going through their results is so strange. Literally anything is possible. Drew with City home and away Beat Spurs 4-1 in that wild game Drew 2-2 with Arsenal Lost 2-0 to Everton Lost 4-2 and 2-1 to Wolves
  11. Is there any reason to think that he will be replaced?
  12. Swiss Ramble posted his overview of Villa's accounts today. On the whole not ringing any major alarm bells, though assumes they will be selling this summer. Part of why their situation isn't as bad as it first looked is their break-even 2021/22 year is actually a £22m profit with the various allowable deductions. Some interesting points: "Allowable deductions for “healthy” expenditure on infrastructure investment, youth development, community and women’s football. Unlike most clubs, Villa provide these details in their accounts. As an example, these added up to £27m last season." This is £11m more than his estimates for us. It's an area we could take more advantage of (though it doesn't help with UEFA's rules) "I reckon that Villa’s FFP loss over the 3-year monitoring period was £95m, so £10m below the maximum allowed loss of £105m." "Villa’s board believes that the club “will remain compliant for the 2023/24 season”. This means that they will have to restrict their FFP loss to £34m, which would imply a loss in the accounts of £61m, assuming that allowable deductions remain at £27m."
  13. This is good. Regardless of whether or not people think he’s good there’s no question he works hard. Not sure the same can be said for a lot of their team.
  14. Yeah, I find these posts odd when we have a manager who has regularly proven he can get the most out of players.
  15. Thought Liverpool edged the first half and had promising chances (Bradley multiple times) that didn’t end with shots.
  16. I partially agree though Man United should be in the first group. They still have the highest matchday revenue and it will explode if they build a new stadium. Man United, Spurs, and Arsenal are the top trio. Liverpool, City, and Chelsea in a second tier, though Liverpool and City both expanding. Our matchday revenue last year was closer to Brentford and Palace than the ones above us. It is possible to compete without joining the first group, but if you do that then you need to make up for that revenue gap somewhere. That’s either commercial or consistent player sales as you can’t count on consistently outperforming to raise broadcast revenue beyond the others. Spurs went from £45m to over £100m in matchday revenue, plus it helps the commercial side also. I don’t know that it’d be realistic to catch the top without London prices but a new stadium could push on nine digits. A big question the owners have to be looking at is can we at least get into that second tier with an SJP expansion. If the numbers still fall short because of either capacity or corporate seating then they will need to seriously consider building new (or lowering their ambitions).
  17. If I was supporting Liverpool I’d feel a bit sick to be behind after that half.
  18. Part of me wants Villa to do well as a historic club breaking up the monotony of the top 6. But I also find their team pretty unlikable starting with McGinn and find it enjoyable seeing Emery lose for some reason.
