  1. I’ve always said everyone above Eddie shares the blame. Specifically Eales, Ashworth, and Staveley. I don’t know why people get so defensive about her. Negative things are said about Keegan, Sir Bobby, Shearer, etc. It doesn’t diminish their importance to the club.
  2. I'm not sure why they can't be criticized. They clearly messed up somewhere between July of 2023 and June of 2024 and I think they'd admit to that. All things considered they also maneuvered out of it with a not disastrous outcome. And none of that tarnishes their legacy or place in the modern history of the club.
  3. Leicester will be docked four points and Chelsea will be adjudged to have broken the rules but due to intense cooperation will receive a super serious written warning.
  4. We are not a profitable enterprise so it's basically just to pay the bills. It won't stop the headlines and tweets declaring things like Saudi owners inject cash as Newcastle linked with Georgian star.
  5. Well yeah, but I don’t really count semis or finals. You’re almost always going to play someone good. Forest away is less kind than it seemed then but Wimbledon (plus a natural disaster to make it a home game), two home games, Bromley, and Birmingham. Hard to complain.
  6. Cup draws have been quite kind this season. A few PL teams guaranteed to go out.
  7. I understand the argument but I can't leave out the only All-Time PL XI member from Newcastle's XI.
  8. He will score at least one important goal to put a happy ending on his career here. Willing it to happen.
  9. If we win at Southampton and Leicester then whatever else we scrap together away from home should be enough as long as we are imperious at home. These next four are very important. It's unfortunate that we've been told we have no mathematical chance of winning all of them.
  10. I was thinking recently how much sense it would make for the PL (and likely all leagues) to change their reporting period to calendar year to match UEFA. It would provide consistency, but I think it also removes some of the uncertainty. As you said, performance determines a lot. TCD is also right that it impacts the likes of us and Villa more than those making double what we bring it, but it can still be meaningful. On December 1 we were in 10th. That's about £15m in prize money from where we are today. That plus the benefits of advancing deeper into Europe can be significant. Calendar year would allow clubs to have almost all the information they need for the entire summer transfer window and remove the June scramble. It would probably make January even more difficult to conduct business, but otherwise seems very sensible. I won't hold my breath.
  11. Just looked and their fixtures are interesting. They've won two in a row with Brentford and Ipswich away coming up. After that they have Chelsea (h), Arsenal (a), Newcastle (h), Liverpool (h), Spurs (a), Forest (a). It's basically now or never for them.
  12. I’m still scared to speak ill of City. No Rodri has definitely lowered their ceiling, but I basically won’t believe they don’t have a run in them until we get to the last month or so.
  13. It’s not about the players. Our scouting has basically been beyond reproach since the takeover. The summer of 2023 was financial mismanagement though and that’s true even if we win the treble this season.
  14. After our next defeat there will be more posts in this thread than in the last four weeks combined.
  15. What a header by Botman. Missed him so much.
  16. The 4th official just had to go retrieve their set piece coach
  17. The level to which their team and supporters hate our Brazilians makes me so happy.
  18. Eddie should emphatically check his watch every time Arsenal have a corner in the second leg.
  19. I don't know if it's going to work, but you can see the logic. We've had a busy few weeks so there are tired legs and you'd back us against anyone in the world playing at home with a 2-0 headstart.
