We're talking two different things here. Dan Burn is limited going forward. We all know this and this has been demonstrated in recent weeks. However, the discussion was around his defensive play, and to my original point, Burn has not been isolated the same way he was today, previously this season, whilst at left back. I.e. targetted for his lack of pace and beaten resulting in a goal.

You mean when Gordon stopped chasing his man back cause he couldn't be fucked? Or other occasions?

Happy to be proven wrong but when has Burn been isolated versus a winger in such a manner this season? He hasn't been. When in past seasons he absolutely was. This is the first goal this season, to my recollection, that has come from such an engagement.

Big fan of Jacob but found him to be fairly anonymous today tbh. There was an excellent passage of pay where we had one too many a target man and non too many a striker, but hey ho, that's not his or Woltemades fault.

I agree that Howe should have probably taken him off, aye.

My point is that there will be heavier criticism of Burn than there will be Botman, which is unfair given that Burn is out of position and Botman isn't, and Botman is or should be held at a higher standard because he is a more talented footballer. That is entirely relevant to any discussion around Dan Burn, because he didn't give away a legitimate penalty and even if he had that is on Howe. He was slow not out of position. In defence of Howe, Burn hasn't been exposed very often to that level of threat since covering for Hall. So there was no need to be massively worried about it today specifically. However, I do accept that, that scenario was always going to eventually happen. I will criticise Burn when Burn plays bad, he didn't. He maybe could have had a somewhat harsh penalty against him which wasn't given. That's it.

I think it's psychological tbh. The outside noise has crept in.

Not at all. Botman was horrific for the final goal. Complete and utter lack of awareness and responsibility. It's fair analysis of the game.

Demonstrated why he two footed footballers are a massive threat today, bur sadly had little opportunity to do so. He is one of 3 wingers who haven't been showing enough previously, but is presently 2nd for wm on performance despite being better than Murphy today. Starts ahead of Gordon for now.

Was our MotM first half. Looked like the one with the most intensity and was everywhere. Shouldn't have been booked and subsequently sent off. For me the second pen was given simply because the first wasn't. Easy to say "should have had Hall there" but tbh our team created jack shit today and 'Rolls Royce' defenders like Botman made bigger mistakes.

Faultless again today. Been a class act.

I cannot defend him today. Needs dropping after that and for me - replaced with the better keeper in Ramsdale.
