    Nigel De Jong

Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong has rejected talk linking him with a move to Newcastle, saying he is focusing on the new season at Hamburg. Wednesday's Sun reported the Magpies were lining up a move for the 23-year-old after being impressed by his performances during Euro 2008. "I am in HSV now and I am concentrating on the new season," De Jong told Spox. "Everything else, whether there are other offers, does not interest me. "Sure, if you have a good European Championship then it's easy to get one or the other offer but, for me, this is not so important. "I am just focused on HSV."
  2. I'm winding you all up. The Janitor, you too seem to have a problem with me.
  3. It's good that we are showing ambition to sign players who should take us back to European football. Although, I still don't think that Aimar would be the right attacking midfield choice for us. He is very skillful, and an exceptional passer of the ball, however he is small and he is weak, I feel he would simply be bullied in the Premiership.

Personally, I think he is one of the best defensive midfielders in Germany. Howay Keegan.

    Poor Portsmouth

Nigeria defender Celestine Babayaro has been forced to put his Portsmouth trial on hold after catching malaria during a trip to Africa. (1240 BST, AFP)
  6. Will be interesting to see if this is completed in the next 48 hours. Will he choose us over a club with UEFA club football next season, and that has already started to invest significantly in strengthening the squad?
  7. Sevilla have apparently also agreed a deal for Lyon's Sebastien Squillaci. He's a very good defender in my opinion.
  8. I'd thought you'd meant Roberto. Which made no sense. So I just dismissed it out of hand. I guess I may not have been alone in that either. He did No, I didn't. What is your problem with me?
  9. Bellamy, now Green. Who's next, Bowyer?
  10. He'll be a Benfica player.
  11. Apparently they have dropped their interest in him as well. This is not good news for us, as it certainly makes signing Cuellar less likely.
  12. If it's anything like the website, it won't be worth the paper it's written on.
  13. After watching Beye for years, I honestly think that this season coming could be one of the best of his career. There were some performances last season were he was showing the ability that made him Marseille captain. He is still incredibly fit and now he understands the nature of the league I stand by the belief that next season he really could be one of the best right-backs in the league.
  14. He could be what Gary Speed was to us. The sad thing is, too many of us aren't even willing to give him a chance.
  15. I remember seeing him the season before last. A very poor man's Cacapa.

    Where were you?

I was on holiday in Marseille. A moment I will never forget, as long as I live.
  17. Shame the Modric transfer (or lack of it) was not so efficient.
  18. Let's be realistic, for fucks sake! Do you expect Keegan to see Guthrie as an automatic first team choice in the 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 next season? Of course not! He is a sub/squad player and he is young. He's an investment for the future and good enough to rely on should any of our midfielders get injured. I really don't see why people are acting like complete idiots.
