A six year deal is a real statement of faith from Pardew and the management. That does mean he can have 6-12 months to settle down, bed in with the rest of the squad, be dipped in and out of the first team and improve in training.
This is a nice buffer between Williamson and Perch/Tavernier in the centre-back pecking order. Hope he turns out to be great, not good.
Why. The. Fuck. Does. It. Matter?!
Man.
In fairness, the more tedious threads (this, Debuchy, Ben Arfa before we signed him, etc) are barely worth reading at times, the thread title is sometimes all I can be arsed to look at.
Yeah, I agree. Whilst I'd argue that in games against the 'lesser' teams, particularly at home, Marveaux might be a better selection, Jonas would be one of the first names on the teamsheet for me when we're playing any of the top half teams.
As NUFC supporters we're not really used to having feasible options past our first 11 players, feels good.
He's fine as a third choice goalkeeper to offer experience in training and around the squad etc, but when the second choice is Elliot we've all got every right to be fucking worried.
