  1. I was Kansas City Wizards until a few months ago. Can't decide whether that's better or worse. LesPaul was devestated when they changed names. Aye, he's gone to support Stoke City now.

I was going to say it looks like Dave Nugent on his right too, but I'm aware that it actually might be him.
  3. Throw in some new lightbulbs for the training ground and it's a deal.

  7. Nowt wrong with 3-month short term loans, just recall them if we get desperate.

    Yohan Cabaye retires

I feel it's worth asking if he'll go to Holland with the reserves?
  9. Oh yeah, this reminds me, I've got to go to the dentists soon.

  11. I'd rather we moved on Perch than R.Taylor. R.Taylor takes the occasional useful set-piece, scores the occasional blockbuster goal and despite being woeful a lot of the time is capable of posting some surprising 6 or 7/10 performances. They both cover a few positions, but I'd rather see the lives of Tavernier play than Perch if we're desperate. Now LuaLua has gone, we don't have too many right-wing options after Barton and Marveaux(?) without shoehorning Guthrie there - R.Taylor provides that cover. Perch, barring the 0-4 Arsenal cup game where I'd say he was 'okay', has been nothing short of utterly shit every single time he's pulled on a Newcastle shirt. He's finished here, and I'd imagine there'd be Championship level interest in him.

    Sunderland...

Those piss-taking over a friendly result would do well to remember how wrong the mackems were to laugh at our heavy defeat to Leyton Orient.
  13. I just think that Ashley wants 'value for wages' with his players. The likes of Smith and Xisco are still a huge drain on resources and they contribute absolutely nothing of value. I firmly believe that if we were able to get a proven world-class player on £60,000+ a week that Ashley would do it. It's not about 'doing it on the cheap' for me, it's about getting value for money. Obviously, the mantra of if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys applies, but there are exceptions to that rule (see Tiote) and Ashley seems intent on finding more of those exceptions. It's a risky strategy but certainly more viable than the old Shepherd transfer policy. Also, I don't think it's a case of Pardew needing to raise transfer funds through player sales. I think if he was to remove what is estimated to be £100,000~ a week from the wage bill by getting shot of those two players (even on free transfers) then he'd be able to bring in two or maybe even three players in their place, depending on their wages of course. Additionally, it's not as if he's having to sell key players to get the wage budget down. Smith and Xisco contribute fuck all between them. The likes of Perch, R.Taylor and Routledge also aren't needed/the required standard and can be moved on too. I'd be interested to see what Ashley's policy would look like if Pardew removed all of these chaff/high earning players from the wage bill and we moved up the table gradually as a result. If he doesn't sell the club as you suggested, would he begin to invest and chase the European spots in order to garner more revenue? It's guesswork.
  14. Sell to buy sounds ominous, just like 'no new capital outlay' did. In reality, if we were to get Sturridge and Clyne and it was one in, one out after that, I'd be pleased. There's a good four or five players we should be looking to move on, most of which have already been listed here.
  15. Correct. The best signing Swansea could make would be a chairman who can shut the fuck up for five minutes
  16. Olivier Giroud is my guess for the continental forward.
  17. N'gog would be a horrendous idea. I'd have taken him on loan in January as part of the Carroll deal, but now, no way.
  18. that was equally daft. What was it, S.Taylor, Guthrie and Lovenkrands (and Krul in goal) and then pretty much all first starts after that? I remember Nolan and co. coming on to try and salvage it, what a farce.
  19. That's what I was getting at btw Sewelly; LuaLua should have been in front of Geremi when he played, and as soon as promotion was assured we should have picked the three most promising ones (+Krul in net) and played them for a few matches.
  20. Geremi over LuaLua was absolutely criminal in those initial weeks of the Championship, like. So was playing the likes of Lovenkrands and Butt when promotion was secured, we should have got some of the kids in straight away. In the end we gave Vuckic about 10 minutes at QPR, big fucking deal.
