Aston Villa v Newcastle - 24/05/09 - Pre-match thread
ChrisMcQuillan replied to Godot's topic in Football
As expected. A piss take of a squad. -
That's a joke.
-
Krul said he would leave if both Given and Harper stay. Krul has been on the bench consistently after weeks of tossing between Krul and Forster, so I imagine they've decided Krul is number 2. Leaving because he's number two keeper is nonsense, since he's unproven and won't walk into a number 1 jersey in another club in the PL or CH.
-
Watched them both. Krul, although Forster looks good too. Don't see Harper lasting all that long in No. 1 with these two behind him. Keep all three, for sure. When Harper leaves, let Forster and Krul battle it out, with Soderberg as 3rd keeper.

10 this season. 13 last season.

In University, in the college's Junior Common Room. 60" screen.

I'd love it to be Coloccini, by making some incredible last ditch tackles and then a winning header. I expect it to be Martins, if anyone.

If Enrique not fit: Harper Beye Taylor Coloccini Tozer Guthrie Butt Smith Martins Viduka Owen Subs: Krul, Edgar, Carroll, Ranger, Lovenkrands, Jonas, Duff ----- After watching today, I cannot condone Duff at LB any longer. He was so horrifically poor. We've nothing to lose, we have to go for it, so bring in Tozer who's actually a LB. Martins was creative today, but didn't get the ball enough, so involve him more on the left. Jonas was also poor and didn't really do anything for the team, so bench please. Nolan: see Jonas. Smith will at least add a bit of fight. Carroll on for Viduka at 55 if nothing's been achieved, Lovenkrands for Martins if/when he tires. Ranger for Owen. -
Had a dream we loaned him out on emergency loan to hull, and he scored a hat trick against Man United on the last day and relegated us.

Team: Harper Beye Taylor Bassong Enrique/Duff Guthrie Butt Nolan Jonas Viduka Owen Bench: Krul, Coloccini, Enrique/Duff, LuaLua, Lovenkrands, Martins, Carroll -
Can't believe Kinnear was going to let him rot.
-
He should come here, where Jonas will teach him the art of the killer ball and the 45-yard spectacular dipped-volley finish.

The other sh*t teams' games - Hull 0 - 1 Man Utd, Sunderland 2 - 3 Chelsea

If Hull equalise, I'll just go kill myself. Our luck surely cannot be that bad. -
Harper Beye Taylor Edgar Bassong Butt Jonas Guthrie Duff Ranger Viduka Subs: Krul, Coloccini, Lovenkrands, Tozer, Owen, Martins, Carroll Give Ranger a shot. I'd ideally like to play Bassong in CB, but I think Edgar did a great job there last time, and Bassong is an adept left back, so I'd play th at back four. Duff and Viduka tend to link up well together, so I'd get them playing at least close to one another. Guthrie for creativity, Butt to mop up, and Jonas to run on the right. If Owen and Martins can't finish, maybe Ranger can. What probably will be played: Harper Beye Taylor Bassong Duff Guthrie Butt Smith Martins Lovenkrands Viduka
