  1. Regardless of whether you think it will be successful or not, the club is right to appeal. It was a preposterous red card. Not appealing because they know the system is ridiculous is tacitly giving that system credence.

    This.

  2. A couple of them arguing that the sale of Grenier would help them keep 3 or 4 other players (extend their contracts?), rather than keep Grenier and have to replace the 3 or 4 whose contracts are running out. They're not laughing our bid off for what it's worth.

  3. Anyway I'm pleased that we're at least trying to replace Cabaye. Or maybe pleased that it appears we're trying, I dunno.

Either way, they won't get any credit from me if it doesn't come off. We can afford him.

  4. The trouble is trying to assess what Ashley's motives (and plans) are with regards to the club in the foreseeable future. We can't really be certain that he won't shell out the required amount to bring this fella in. His previous moments of madness when he sanctioned transfers for Cisse and Coloccini make me want to believe that this can be possible.

I think the objective is just to do as well as we can within our financial means. There's not much more to it than that IMO. If we can get the right deals for players we know we'll try and do them.

I meant whether or not he's thinking of selling up, moving it up a gear, or just happy with the status quo. We can pretty much conclude that it's the latter, but the cunt loves a surprise.

  6. Would like to see him and Ben Arfa in the same side every single time. Anita's qualities are tailor made for players like Ben Arfa giving him that extra bit of time and space on the ball. In a weird sense, they should form a "double act" around the pitch where they stay close to each other so that the dutchman can feed the frenchman, and allow the magic to happen.

In a rigid midfield system, a player like Ben Arfa has two options: run to the by-line and cross, or take on the entire team and try to score a wondergoal. Obviously that's counter productive most of the time. HBA is not JUST a luxury flair player. He's a damn fine footballer with great technique, quick feet and a burst of pace. If we can optimise the use of this skillset, we'd do a lot better in attack. A player like Anita greatly enhances the chances of that happening.

I imagine little Vurn following fatboy around giving him possession, and sticking close by for those quick little interchanges that can create an opening of sort. Not rocket science.

  7. What a sad state of affairs football has become. Utterly wank decision. A soft altercation incurring the same punishment as a leg breaking tackle? Fuck off.

  8. I caught the very tail end of Pardew press conference on Sky just before 4pm, he mentioned a back injury and someone not playing tmrw night. They've not included it in their subsequent showings of the conference. Anyone know who he was talking about? I assumed it was Cabaye.

    Cisse

  9. Get rid of this hapless lad, he's done absolutely f*** all since joining us. Sick of this mediocre attitude, GET SOME GOOD, HUNGRY PLAYERS IN! this lad just seems content to mope about collecting his wages and watch his career slip away

Bigi is 10x the player Dan is in my opinion, it's just a shame no-one will buy this guy.. he'll have to perform miracles to change my mind at this point, though watch him warm that bench to the max.

What's that based on? The moment we finally gave him a loan he jumped at the chance and played most games for Blackpool.

I agree. There's no reason to fault Gosling's attitude. He's tried his best and he's taken the opportunity to perform well at Blackpool.

It looks like his injuries have robbed him of that bit of pace that's needed at the very top level.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind another look at Gosling, see if he's improved with getting playing time. Unlike our other CMs, he really attacks the box.

I don't think he's anything special but I agree with this. Pointless giving him cameos and rare starts when he's been on the bench for ages. The time to do that is now, having had significant minutes in a relatively competitive league.
