tbh I thought Ranger was our best player. He put himself about, and managed to dominate most of the 50-50 situations he came up against.

Awful awful game. Ranger gave our forwards a lesson in ball control and hold up play. Relatively speaking, he didn't look out of place despite not playing for almost 2 years. The rest was just a non-event. Could have been furious with Shola had it been a meaningful game.

They both went for the rebound after Santon's shot. Thank fuck Ba got there first and tucked it away, otherwise I think there was a train wreck of a miss awaiting. Surely a good thing though that they both want to score so badly? We must find that balance, and it comes with coaching a game plan into their forward play. Both of their levels of in-game intelligence/decision making must be a priority for Pardew and his coaching staff.

I don't get this at all. I guess you can never have enough young, quality fullbacks. But they'll have Bertrand, Azpilicueta, van Aanholt, Hutchinson, and now Wallace, all under 23 years old.
