  1. do you get it now ? cups are nice, but they aren;t proof you are any good, good teams don't go down the pan like those you've listed. to me football is about seeing who's the best at it, cups don't come anywhere near proving this. what does winning a knock out cup prove ? Cups are much more strongly connected to the sense of personal achievement, satisfying a desire to win. A league much more decisively shows who is the better team over the course of a season, but a cup is more accessible. It is tangible, it is representation of a team's success. deep down thoguh you know you've won nothing of worth unless you can say you were the best. But you were the best. You were the best in the competition, outlasting everyone you've come up against. The league more decisively shows superiority, but 'being the best' is exactly why people celebrate cup successes. Your team succeeded where every single other team failed.

Through the history of the cups, it delivers that feeling of accomplishment that you were the best in the competition; something you can't get from someone finishing 4th vs someone finishing 8th.
  3. If I had more than a casual interest in it, I would. That said, it appears knowing stuff about football teams is getting me no-fucking-where.
  4. What the fuck did I do in a previous life whereas others enjoy obscene amounts of luck? I need to know. Maybe it was bad.
  5. I thought wow, that's some nice luck for once with the Granada own goal. Should've realised my celebrations would be premature, as my Villarreal/draw double chance swiftly goes tits up as Valencia score in the 91st minute.
  6. Nope, wait, of course: Valencia score in injury time as well. Fuck off.
  7. Real Madrid of all teams letting me down on a 4 fold. Trust this to be the day they fluff a series of easy chances. Edit: fair enough!
  8. I'm not sorry for Ronaldo, but in any other season - any other era, frankly - he'd be regarded as the best. Instead, he's a distant 2nd. Unlucky.
  9. What a substitution. Iniesta off, Xavi on.
  10. Zaragoza are performing a bit of a miracle in La Liga. They were bottom not so long ago iirc, but they're now 3 points from safety. Rayo, 17th, are getting beat. Zaragoza are currently playing already relegated Racing at home. 1-1.
  11. Gabriel Clarke is such an awkward person.
  12. Look at me, look at me, I have ESPN. And a conservatory.
  13. IMO, ITV are just talking about the "goal" to make up for the fact it was a mediocre final lacking quality.

Presume this has been posted already.
  15. Ranieri favourite for the WBA job. Eh?
  16. "Did it or didn't it?" No, it didn't.
