  1. A few potentially decent games around Europe tonight: Atletico v Villarreal, Heehor v Sevilla and Sampdoria v Totti FC.
  2. For all his apparent incompetence, and I guess it's easy for me to say this, you could be in a better position long-term. But as Dave says, depends what you believe.
  3. Forgive my ignorance because I don't really know the finances in-depth, but am I right in saying your general financial position is actually not too bad? My dad was telling me he'd read a quote on t'internet from someone saying a lot of clubs would like be in your position? (You know what I mean).
  4. And whilst Spurs, City and Villa battle amongst themselves for 4th, the mighty Toffees surge through by winning our last 8 games 8-0. It's all planned out.
  5. Carragher complaining for no reason. What a lovely result.
  6. Commentator sums it up: they're missing Alonso so, so much.
  7. What happened? Attempted penalty dive?
  8. That's probably as attacking as Liverpool get. Striker on for one of their best attacking players.
  9. Smart play really. Big difference between getting in between opponent and ball so as to be very confident the player will have to foul you in order to get the ball. It's not however healthy for it to come to the point of players just playing to fall over as opposed to not even try to stay on their feet. That's when it gets embarrassing.
  10. It's so sweet seeing Gerrard's tumbles being ignored.
  11. Bad move Spence, mainly because I had that in my list. An impressive 3/4 losing for me.
  12. Also, what annoys me most about diving is when it is done by top quality players. Gerrard, Drogba et al really don't need to dive. They're strong enough with enough quality to not have to do it. (Of course, Gerrard is my most hated example. The way he's almost timing when to do them and ensure the ref is looking disgusts me.)
  13. Agreed. The problem will not go away without consistent action, and hard action at that. Talking about it and saying how it's wrong will get us nowhere. It's a dirty trait in the game that takes away a lot of what football should be about. The key debate is whether we should take action within the game (red cards?) or have action taken afterwards. The latter would be easier, through the medium of an independent committee as you have suggested, but it won't be much consolation to the side that is cheated out of a win/draw.
  14. Getafe score and Monaco go behind. Damn.
  15. Stuck a couple of quid on Deportivo, Liverpool, Monaco and Getafe. All had about 35 minutes - absolutely nothing has happened thus far.
  16. Spence, damn your consistent winning. [/jealous].
  17. I refuse to believe you wouldn't have a chance when you see the sorts of players plying their trade in the PL this season.
  18. Got to say, I'm a fan of McCarthy. Very honest in his interviews, but positive.
  19. Look at some of the managers. Couldn't care - I think your current squad would survive, if you keep the momentum you have from going up. That was my point as well. The squad is crap but when you look at some of the managers in the Prem it's laughable. Zola? Avram Grant? Megson? I'd say Grant and Megson are better managers than Hughton but yeah, I agree, you've got a great chance of staying up. I don't understand this talk of you needing a massive overhaul to stay up. Rubbish. You need some confidence, which hopefully will transmit itself via the momentum you get from going up.
  20. Look at some of the managers. Couldn't care - I think your current squad would survive, if you keep the momentum you have from going up.
  21. I honestly think you only need 2 or 3 players to have a decent chance of staying up. Look at some of the squads in the PL.
  22. Comes across as a very canny bloke, Berbatov; as I'm sure most footballers probably do in a 1-on-1 interview.
