    RIP sale thread.

I love the phrase 'formal contact'. How is it different to 'informal' contact? Is that when they joke about the deal over a lunchtime pint? Genuine question btw

    Lescott's a classy defender?
  3. Hypothetically given the circumstances, £30m would be reasonable for the lot.

Serious question: do people think Lescott or Upson should be playing? (behind Rio and Terry)

Haha. Good one. It's not that bad like. Still frustratingly lacking though. A better end product and he could be an England starter for years to come. Guess next season is a bit of a make-or-break for young Theo. (How old is he now come to think of it? 21?)

Upson over Lescott yet again. Wtf is going on?
  7. Unfortunately 2 of your best (at least they would be IMO) as Roger Kint said, came against us. "It'll take something special to beat Richard Wright today............SHEEAAAARRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" (Mind iirc Bellamy's winner was a fluky deflection ) And yeah, the infamous 6-2, we totally went to pieces after the break, combined with Kieron Dyer I believe, brutally penetrating us. Not the only time he's done it to us as well. Think it was Moyes' 3rd game in charge, we'd beaten Derby 4-3 the game before , so we were entertaining at least.....
  8. The thread title is an abhorrent disapproval of English writing conventions.

The Profitable Group What a name. Yeah that article does sound :fwap:tastic.

Do those two points not contradict each other slightly? If there's no auction then someone interested would just pay up and buy it. I can see what he meant, that there are three or four parties interested and have made that clear to Ashley; but the one that gets the club will be the first to firm up their interest by offering the £100m. Group X need to offer £Ym to get Club Z. More revolutionary insider info from David Craig.
  12. In euros due to the fluctuating exchange rate, Zidane is still the record holder at 73m, Kaka was something like 66. As far as I'm concerned though Kaka's the world record.
  13. Kaka, going, going, gone!
  14. Thats pretty fair in the current market imo. A one that includes Milner for 12m anyway. Point taken, my natural assessment though is in more general terms. But yeah, crazy money is commonplace nowadays.
  15. Wigan must be rofling all the way to the bank.
  16. Probably nearer 85 to tell the truth.
  17. Was it Denmark Sweden a couple of years ago where they purposefully drew?
  18. I thought Rooney was shit tbh.
  19. I think Barca are better off perhaps going for an up and coming forward for a smaller fee (if they really want another one) and concentrate on perhaps improving the defence. That said, it's pretty hard to improve that team. Sometimes you just have to keep things ticking along. No big changes are needed, and as such I think signing Ibra would be unnecessary, at this moment in time.
  20. Bentley is apparently saying that talks are underway to take him to Man City. Hughes got the very best out of him but when you can afford any player on the planet, do you really want to sign Bentley, even if he did play well before? Bentley seems to think so. I think Lescott could wind up with City as well, good defender. Shame Dr Spectrum isn't around to see it all, think he would have enjoyed it. Maybe it's just blind faith but I think it's highly unlikely. Ah well, if he does want to go, we'll not only move on perfectly well without him, but also get a ridiculous amount of money. But my original point remains. I simply can't see him going, particularly not to somewhere like City.
  21. Not really when you think of the talent they have in midfield. Would pick Xavi, Iniesta, Silva, Senna and Fabregas ahead of Arteta off the top of my head. Probably Alonso too. I'll rephrase. A big shame that such a talented player isn't recognised on an international stage.
