Im just glad to be part of it. The more clubs that win trophies, the better. If we keeping putting ourselves in a position where we're qualifying for quarterfinals and semifinals, it hopefully won't be too long before the next one too.

While this is a fair point. The English Premier League is doing exactly the same, just they get a far bigger pie, so even the smaller pieces are bigger than anything distributed around Europe.

It is a weird one. As a fan, I'd love to be in this competition. Loads of class away days and we'd have a great chance of winning it. It does nothing to help my football apathy though. The financial superiority of the Premier League and the expansion of the European competitions makes English dominance an inevitably. Every decision, made with an endless thirst for cash, eroding the integrity of the game.

Fair fucks to Villa, but the dominance of English teams in the EL and EC should rightfully set alarm bells ringing across Europe.

Other than the fans, it's very difficult to have much sympathy for Southampton. It happened multiple times across the season with Spor having knowledge of it, suggesting it was accepted practice within the football operation. The Hull argument doesn't stand up to scrutiny either

Aye. I guess managing Palace through a Europa League campaign (if they win next Wednesday) could be a good litmus test of his ability to manage players energy levels. Even then it feels like a massive step up in terms of pressure and harmonising a squad at say Barca or Real. He's been class at Bournemouth though, no doubt. Inerested to see how his career progress.

I was more interested in what was meant by a club like us. We may be considered a step up after his next gig, depending on where that is. Unless of course we think he's going to the very top.

Seemed harsh on the face of it, if there's been multiple instances then fair enough. For me the punishment would depend on how accepted the practice is within Southampton. If everyone knows about it then fair enough, but if its just the coaching staff going rogue, surely just bab them?
