My reading of the situation is that Leipzig and Sesko's agent are trying to initiate a bidding war to extract as much dollar as possible from the deal. The player has communicated that he'd be happy to join either club (granted he may have a preference), so we've gone early with a big fee hoping that Man United need to sell or they simply won't put their money where their mouth is.

So what we're saying is that this transfer window is on Mike?

It's smart wording from Ornstein though. He implies our bid has been rejected without actually saying as much. He doesn't give specifics on what Leipzig are after or whether we're still at the table. He also vaguely keeps Man United in the conversation. It's a masterclass in covering all bases.

As I said earlier, I think both clubs are being played.

What would that have to do with Leipzig rejecting our offer though?

Allegedly they asked Arsenal for a €75M base fee, plus €10M–€15M in add-ons and a sell-on clause.

Or they're just hoping for a bidding war.

So the narrative has gone from... "Player will decide, then the club that is given the green light will bid." To... "The bid doesn't matter, the player hasn't decided and the other club can't be discounted."

Unless we go big on a CB.

I didn't know who he was, but the first couple of things he posted were just opinion dressed as reporting.

i.e they're waiting to see if Man United better our offer.

He's a chancer though.

So today we've had... Slovenian media: he's chosen Newcastle. Local media: We've made a bid, but no decision made. Romano: No bid and no decision. Man United still strong runners. Does that cover it?

There's something massively off in the reporting of this.
