When will people stop taking Edwards' word as gospel? Not only has he covered all bases in one statement, he still regularly churns out nonsense. He might not be as odious as he used to be, but he's still as scatter gun as they come.

A 3.5 year deal wouldn't make sense on any level. We'll offer him a new deal regardless I'd imagine.
-
I assume with him gone, Harvey Barnes will take his place in the squad, alongside Longstaff and Burn, as an utter scumbag who can't do anything right?
-
Just had a browse of the article: "One source has described the saga as “a lot of hot air” but it has destabilised Gordon and Newcastle are worried about his state of mind before he returns to the club at the end of the European Championship for pre-season training." Makes sense. He goes onto say we didn't offer him to them to him, they were just being opportunistic.

Aye, this will be the acid test.
-
Twas in the Arhletic this morning and framed far less dramatically. He was open to the move (why wouldn't he be?) and some in the club were worried his head might have been tirned (why wouldn't they be?).

In all seriousness, pretty inconsequential stuff.

I guess this is off then? -
Fair point.

To br fair, sounds like he did some invaluable work during his time, even if he has conducted himself like an unprofessional weasel.
-
Not sure where it's come from, but £12 million being floated on Twitter.
-
If we make a profit last year, it'll help the rolling calc for the coming year regardless.
-
Why does he look like he's being held hostage?

You'd imagine shifting the likes of Almiron and Wilson will be pretty important to the summer business.
-
Ah, so it's gone from being a £20 million black hole, to £40 million, to £70 million plus. Righteo.
-
Definitely plausible.
-
The club want people to believe that though. Definitely feels like deliberate exaggeration of the situation.
-
It's only been two and a half years though. Plus we've now got the addition of enhanced related party sponsor rules to navigate. It'll be interesting to see where we're at at the halfway mark of that timescale.

I just find it very strange that we've know about a £50 million hole in the finances for months and have kept it until the final days to start scrambling around for deals. There's definitely something else at play.
