    Steven Taylor

Exactly, he's had over 6 years in the first team and the only thing he'd be remembered for if he was sold tomorrow is being that local lad who had potential. He's not even worth £30k. I’d remember the commitment he showed during our relegation season. If some of his highly paid colleagues had shown an ounce of his drive and determination we’d have stayed up. If he's so committed he'll sign a new contract at Newcastle rather than look for a bumper pay packet somewhere else. Will someone else give him £60k a week? I doubt it He is better off staying here, getting himself fit and trying to get back into the side

Source for Nolan earning that? The other two are moot, because they were signed under Shepherd. I stand corrected - it was £50k not £60k http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1187448/Meltdown-Newcastle-8217-s-71m-wage-nightmare--stay.html The point still stands re. Barton and Smith

Dont entirely blame him - he sees the likes of Smith, Barton, Nolan earning that amount of money and rightly believes he should get paid as much as them since he has offered as much if not more to the club BUT the club seems to have adopted a new wage policy which is a good thing - paying daft money for players who dont do fuck all should be a thing of the past Also Taylor's has spent a lot of time on the sidelines of late so cant justify paying him £60k a week I hope he sees sense and accepts less money as I would prefer to keep him as we wont get much money for him
  4. Its like he is making up for all those shite left backs we have had over the years - Bernard was the last decent one we had and Enrique is still miles better than him plus Bernard was a cunt whilst Enrique is a legend
  5. I agree - I certainly dont think he was poor in his 1st year, he was more than decent actually - pretty class compared the left backs we had previously BUT his game has improved even further and his bloody brilliant now It was a joke when Fat Sam would not play the lad even though he was our best left back by a country mile
  6. Williamson has been very impressive - not the quickest BUT plays to his strengths Was worried about whether he could make the step up and so far he has coped well - 2 good games for him so far, long may it continue
  7. It was bloody funny - nice bit of "revenge" really I can understand the mackems being delighted at us going down BUT Villa fans making that much effort was a bit odd like - twats
  8. What game were they watching?
  9. Got fortunate with the penalty miss BUT after that we well and truly destroyed them - according to the stats they had 1 shot on target BUT I cant remember it We were excellent - I didnt think our midfield would be up to much BUT I was gladly proven wrong, the whole team was brilliant - I guess thats usually the case after such a big, comprehensive win It was a great atmosphere and it was nice to get our "revenge" after the Villa fans laughed at our relegation Also Robbie Savage you are a girly haired :duff:
  10. Everyone played well today Has had 1 poor game and 1 good game - let's hope he can build on this latest performance
  11. Quality player - delighted he got a hat-trick - should comfortably get double figures this season I take it there are not many haters left now?
  12. Damn - expect more dross from our midfield and expect Carroll to be left chasing lost causes and feeding off scraps
  13. If he persists with those 3 guys in the middle we will struggle big time - need Guthrie in there, I would even hoy in Vuckic if Guthrie is injured
  14. I thought Williamson did well - won a lot in the air and was good on the ground bar the odd moment, very impressed with him. Enrique was solid as expected. Carroll did as well as could be expected, playing up front on your own isnt easy. Routledge will destroy weaker teams no doubt The big worry for me was the central midfield and right back Central Midfield = It was full of triers BUT no creativity whatsoever. We need Guthrie in the middle, thats vital as the 3 that played today dont offer a great deal going forward Right Back = Perch was shocking, its only one game and it cant have been easy facing Nani BUT it was a worry. The back up options are not much better really. Simpson is a Championship right back at best, he wont be much better than Perch. Raylor was crap in the Premiership last time round, was average in the Championship as well so would not expect him to do anything. Our best right back is actually Steven Taylor BUT he is injured If we dont buy a better right back then perhaps it is worth playing Williamson there, with Colo and Campbell in the middle - I think Williamson played a couple of times there last season and did well BUT it would only be a short term solution really
  15. I find it funny how some posters are having a dig at given's goalkeeping - regardless of what you think of him as a person he was a brilliant keeper for us
  16. I think Given is a legend - I dont blame him for leaving, the timing may not have been the best BUT its clear he had enough of it - he was with us for over 10 years, barring the period under SBR we have been shite, he could have left ages ago as it was clear he wasnt going to win anything with us and that shows he did care enough about the club. The club showed no ambition and I think he was more than entitled to want to leave for a club where his chances of winning something is far greater I dont really care whether he plays or not for city BUT I would definately applaud him on his return
  17. Those that watch the reserves do you reckon Airey will make it?
  18. I like this idea - hate the new shirt, certainly aint wasting money on that - would much rather go for someting like this where the money goes to the SBR foundation
  19. Arry wont do jackshit - when he finds out he has a transfer budget of £0 he will be out the door faster than Usain Bolt Roy Hodgson has international experience so he could do a good job BUT it will take him time to build a side - will the media, fans give him that time?
  20. Thing is... he could have gone for Crouch up front, he could have taken Adam Johnson to play on the left, he could have kept Lennon for width on the right, he could have left out an unfit Barry, he could have dropped Rooney, he could have played Dawson instead of Upson, etc etc. He's not just the innocent victim of s*** players, he's made a lot of mistakes recently. and if he tried those things and they didnt pay off (which is highly likely) (Actually not taking Johnson was wrong) he would have got lambasted There really is a bigger issue here than the manager - no doubt he could have tried some different formations, some different players BUT the final result would have been the same - getting outplayed by better teams Changing the footballing culture overnight is not going to happen BUT when technically good players are coming through (Wilshere the prime example) they should be highlighted and brought into the setup as soon as possible
  21. No he should not go BUT he will be hounded out - its just how it goes The players are just not good enough, he could have perhaps tried some different formation BUT the end result really would have been the same - coming unstuck against a decent side There are only a few players worth keeping, the rest need to be gotten rid of - I think more players like Wilshere are needed for the future
  22. On here? Name names? Apologies - not here BUT im talking in general, usually its the southerners
