  1. Hol' up, we haven't heard from Cronky yet - once he's finished jerking it until it's raw that Ashley is staying of course.
  2. Has he left it a year too late? Even Arsenal and Spurs have invested heavily in that part of that pitch - unless he wants' to take a half step up to Everton, either that or to a Champions League Club overseas.
  3. Never seen a man slip so many times while scoring goals before - he did it against Sheffield and i'm pretty sure he also ended up on his butt scoring 3 or 4 his 7 odd goals for Hoffenheim
  4. What’s he like eh? He’s also on another pro-Bruce rant claiming that Bruce made players like Grealish and McGinn. Plus pretty much every other decent player he’s ‘managed’. This would of course be the McGinn who Bruce signed in August 2018 before being sacked in October 2018? Yep, must've been like a second father to him.
  5. Oh don't be so pessimistic, I am actually expecting us to have high quality tarp that looks the part covering the stands... every inch of course covered by the logos of Sports Direct and whatever other failed high street brands he bought up over the past 18 months. No expense spared - covered by the club of course.
  6. More to do with the off the field stuff. He was a bit of a cult hero, at least with the Twitter crowd before he started spouting his pro-Pardew nonsense to fans.
  7. Fuck off is Coventry going to be the city of culture Why so shocked? Oh, right, this :
  8. Eh? Is he talking about a different club? Sunderland maybe? Because when I, a mega wealthy sovereign fund for an oil state, spend 300 million on an asset with the knowledge that it will require ongoing spending due to chronic under-investment, I immediately starve it of even more capital, put it into administration and proceed to make my initial 300 million investment worthless after 3 months.
  9. Guess you just treat it to luck of the draw - no different to Rafa needing to miss games because of his hernia or a key player missing time because of injury. It's if there a mass outbreak amongst a club that you start to have competition integrity issues
  10. Either one of us or someone sympathetic to the anti-Ashley sentiments. It's always been at it's most vicious at the "support da teeeeeeam" crowds, some of it's tweets around June last year when Rafa left were glorious - just straight abusing the fans trying to defend the club and those who renewed their season tickets.
  11. Good on 'em - take it they won't be the only ones at either the Premiership or Championship level. Also good on Bowyer for taking a reasonable, calm headed approach to the issue - just what I expect from him. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jun/01/three-charlton-players-including-lyle-taylor-unwilling-to-continue-season-lee-bowyer-injury
  12. It's subtle - sounds like what the crowd would be if the stadium was 75% empty, so it works in a weird way. I think if they dialed it up to try and re-create a pack to the rafters atmosphere it would be distracting and cringe though.
  13. Still have a chuckle from when a couple of tabloids around 2010 were trying to claim that Barcelona were pushing for a straight Steven Taylor - Puyol swap.
  14. Saudi money is Saudi money. Top end players will come for Steve Bruce if you splashed enough cash. Mark Hughes got Carlos Tevez to ditch Manchester United to come play for him.
  15. Alreet John Carver. Me, you and everyone else have probably yelled worse at coaches at sporting events within ear shot. Hope you never sit near the boundary where the third man is fielding at a cricket game if this offends you.
  16. Nobody because they've already played each other twice. Nufc Vs sheff utd then Yeah, those cracking home atmospheres from the "support da team" crew are vital to the TV experience.
  17. Why would they need to come to Newcastle in your scenario ? I'm with you in that I think its happening but I dont get why anyone would need to physically come here ? Publicity? Press shots? Don’t think so. Highly doubt Staveley, The Reubens or anyone from PIF will be basing their office there. I read something about them looking to employ a few directors with experience. Expect an Ian Ayre/Garry Cook type to come in and look to increase commercial revenue. Then there’ll be a director of football. Someone to bring in the names that a coach approves/deliver the strategy that the owners want. They’ll probably bring in someone new to do the Charnley work. I can’t see Staveley being the one doing the press releases, fully expect Yasir Al-Rumayyan to be the one to make the big announcements (or at least his name will be attached to them) as he’s well used to doing that with either PIF or Aramco. Don't think he was on about long term and where they are based, pretty sure he was on about a one-off photo shoot at the ground to announce the takeover I’m not sure they’ll even do that, If I recall correctly, I think City just put out a press release and I can’t remember Roman Abramovic doing anything when he bought Chelsea. Roman is private to the point of paranoid and the City owners were never about putting themselves up front and centre - they fucked that original spokesman off quick smart who was talking all that shit about signing Ronaldo for 200 million and bringing in Fabregas and Torres when the takeover first went through. The PIF is a different beast to those two - having the brand name front and center seems to be part of the plan for their previous big investments.
  18. Who the fuck would take their kids to "cheesy chips land"? The sort of people who's idea of a family day out is to take the kids to St James Park and hold up homemade FTM banners. Uncle Mick is their patron saint after all.
  19. You gotta respect the hustle. No doubt just negotiated a nice little pay rise at his current job based on the NUFC interest, while proceeding to charge NUFC a fee to find an alternative. FWIW I've seen other forums and subreddits receive a polite but firm e-mail from lawyers about users posting articles.
  20. I HATE this quote! I am right in saying that the most of the debt Ashley inherited was in relation to the level seven expansion, aren't I?! It was secured against 40K season ticket sales up until 2015 but needed to be paid within 30 days IF a sale of the Club went through! Thats right, the loan was secured against the stadium expansion and extra ST sales. Iirc that loan had to be paid up in full when the club was sold which is why Ashley had to fork out the extra money. This should have been highlighted in due diligence for Ashley to consider. If due diligence was ever carried out in full of course. Why Ashley couldn't remortgage I dunno and why he refused to use the overdraft facility Barclays said he could have I dont know either, he basically strangled NUFC of cash flow. Cheers mate! That £100m figure is used by all of the media and those lot down the road to declare how Ashley saved us as we were going to do a Leeds etc - utter shite! Yeah we got bashed over the head by it a few times, they totally ignored that the extra ST money was paying this off with mortgage payments, Ashley also refusing the Barclays overdraft facility seemed very odd as well. I suppose he had a business model that he worked to but for a football club it basically strangled finances, even with the extra TV revenue. Remember he was also happy to sell players to other clubs with payments stretched over a few seasons but for NUFC he insisted that any new players had to be bought out right in one payment. Guessing the Fat Mans logic is by he is able to charge a premium (as well as interest as Derek bragged about when talking about Liverpool being later for a Carroll payment) by selling a player and being paid over time. On the flip side he will be demanding a discount when he buys a player for paying cash up front.
  21. Liverpool will be given the title regardless of the outcome. The Scottish, Belgium and the French all named champions when cancelling their seasons. The Dutch didn't crown a champion, but the top teams were tied on points.
  22. Must’ve remembered the order wrong then but the message is still the same Could've been talking about Roy Hodgson who came in after Rafa at Liverpool. I have no doubt Woy is a smashing bloke - no one seems to have a bad word against him, but inept in modern football when it comes to gameplans and tactics.
  23. Only SD Twitter account I can find is this one and they last tweeted in Dec '19. Same it's weird, the main account was still tweeting stuff recently I'm sure but I can't find it. If I recall, it used to be SportsDirectUK as their main Twitter account. Definitely seems to have gone. Yep. Think it was soon after the CFO posted that smug open letter to Boris Johnson asking if they should open the stores - I think they seriously thought they had the public support behind them and would get a round of applause for taking it to Boris.
  24. Do you think Rafa would want Keegan around the place? I'm not convinced by the Keegan story. It sounds like the kind of thing that would get made up. If true, I think it would be a mistake to detract any attention from the manager, who will be trying to make his own history. And of course the minute anything goes slightly wrong, there's going to be a crazy section shouting for KK to take over. Rafa has worked at a number of clubs were ex-players and managers are doing ambassadorial duties behind the scenes. It’s no big deal in fact it’s something that anyone should expect from any prestigious club Yeah, but this is Keegan and Newcastle. That does make it a big deal. Rafa was on board when the Scousers bought Dalglish back to Liverpool. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/kenny-dalglish-returns-to-liverpool-1730833.html%3famp
