Think getting Bernie Silva back into the team regularly has helped massively to negate his loss. Pretty much never looses the ball. Portugal are so ridiculously stacked for midfielders. Absolutely this. When Gundogan and Silva weren't playing early on City weren't quite as cohesive a side as they had been. They've made the team start playing like a City team again.
