This, and he muscled Enrique off the ball while Obertan stood a yard away and watched. Good point. He wanted it, had the confidence to get it and bossed Enrique. Obertan has none of that.

Our off the ball movement is woeful like. One of the reasons Vuckic/HBA weren't getting space in the middle, we are incapable of moving the ball around and creating space. Jonas was atrocious. It was embarassing to see Santon, Cabaye, Haris and Tiote linking up well in the central third and Jonas lazing around, strolling two yards here and there, offering absolutely no impetus to our wide attacking positions. Urgh.

Horrific defensive play in conceding all 3 goals. I was actually embarrassed watching our positioning and marking for their first goal, and I was only in a pub surrounded by simpletons. Cannot play as a lone striker when we are simply hoofing balls up the park. It's not playing to his strong points and, simply, it's not going to work when he's up against two extremely physical defenders.

A class above; has to start the next game and be the focus point of all of our play.

He froze. Tonight was not the night for a young player with very little experience of first team football. It was quiet clear how naive, uncertain and inexperienced he was. A complete shame and entirely not his fault. I'm annoyed with Pardew for putting him into the position. Definitely a decent prospect in there.

Obertan is not good enough to take us where we want to go. His style of play is not what we need from an advanced right midfielder who seems to be expected to play as a main, fast, outlet. He is unsure in possession; he is non-committing in the tackle; he rarely attempts to beat his man from a wide position; he lacks a quality deep cross; and he has no goalscorers instinct. He is the epitome of average and that is when he is having a good game. I'm actually quiet annoyed that we are now shackled with the player as I cannot see how he can improve as a player. He is too fragile. It would be a miracle if he were to attract some interest from France in the summer and was sold on. A big mistake.
