Yup. It’s always been a bit of a pet hate of mine to see people react to a red card by saying “the ref ruined the game”. Holding was ruining the game by repeatedly and cynically fouling Son in what at best was a failure to cope with him but looked suspiciously like a premeditated attempt to wind him up. I’m more concerned about the sort of reffing that lets (for example) Fabinho do that stuff with impunity, or the sort of (often UEFA) reffing where they let players do anything for 70 mins then suddenly book everyone that moves for the last 20.

Surprised they didn’t postpone it as we have one player missing this time.

Was always an issue for him when he played for us. Lovely player, great going forward but against the top sides defensively he’d get burned from time to time.

We’ve been through this before . Somebody has to win it. In the unlikely event it’s not Spurs I’d rather it was a club with infinite money where them winning anything doesn’t mean very much. For a while there it was Chelsea, now it’s Man City. If Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal win anything it’s annoying. Man City just don’t mean anything to me any more, so let them have it.

Fuck, that seems pretty harsh. Just maybe sell them instead?

It shows what money can and will do in the end if you have enough. West Ham misused it for a while but eventually got it right. Money bought them enough bites of the cherry. You can always point to one or two failures such as Everton, or West Ham themselves for a while, but sooner or later the law of averages will win out. It took Man City a while too.
