Luckily, Jenas is back from his loan. It was looking a bit dodgy there, but it will all be OK now.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Anyone been watching Schalke play this year? We're supposed to be in for Lewis Holtby, but all I have is Youtube and a very vague memory. Supposed to be very good?

Genuine question. Is there anyone else in the Premier League who has remained in his team's squad/team as long despite the general scorn of his own supporters? The best we can offer are probably Huddlestone (7 years) and Dawson (7.5 years) - yet our fans are split on their merits. Dawson has continued to do a decent job, frankly, and both may be on their way. I don't count Jenas, because we've been trying to offload him for ages, and he's been out on loan for years. I forget how long Hibbert has been at Everton...

I was required to like him for a couple of years, but I'm so, so glad that I never have to care what he says any more.

You need to watch that again. Pata's bang on. Was extremely predictable what was going to happen, as good a strike as it was. Hop to the left. Watch it go past your right. Happens time and again in this league. Given was criminal for it. Reina gave the perfect example against Bale at our place.

That was my reaction, and I don't even support you...although I do today. Howay, Shola!

I wouldn't Why? Granted Mignolet is a cracking keeper but Nani is an quality footballer and can be almost unplayable on his day. Wouldn't think it would be too hard to find a replacement as good as Mignolet. I wouldn't swap Krul for Nani like although I think Krul is a lot better than Mig. There's not much to choose between them based on this season's displays. I'd rather have Krul of the two, but you can't look a gift goalkeeper in the mouth. Not surprised they wouldn't take the deal.

On a similar note, Webb was really fucking annoying today. Genuinely starting to think that he has something against us. I could be wrong, but I feel that he is very generous to "smaller" sides when they play against a stronger team...unless that stronger team is Man U. I usually hate the idea of thinking a ref is biased (apart from the usual one of them subtly and unconsciously favouring the home team) but Webb does make me wonder.

I wouldn't say he looked class. Certainly gave Hughes a lot of trouble because he's a big, awkward fucker, but too many rough edges for me. Think the loan is perfect tbh. Give him a year or two, and he'll be terrific (very Drogba-esque). Still plenty of room for development there, though.

 Actually laughed out loud. Nearly cheered.

Villa, Reading, and QPR are though. You could say that a lot depends upon Villa's injured players coming back, ,and what both they and QPR do in the window, but Cabaye and Steve Taylor are just around the corner. We have had a torrid run of three results until today, but other than that, we are nowhere near as bad as those results suggest. You'd better tell the wife. She's asking me about all the new places she can see matches next year (Peterborough, Doncaster, Huddersfield etc etc.). You need to tell the Mrs to man up, Leffe. No offence, like. None taken. She's a Cleveland fan (Browns, Indians etc etc). Nobody has any right to tell a Cleveland fan to man up when it comes to sports, the poor bastards. At least I only married into them.

Well yes, but you used plurals and made it sound like it was a common occurrence to see them knock 6 past better sides than us in 45 minutes of football, which I don't think is the case. I was saying that i still believe if you open up and give them space they are still capable of scoring by the bucket loads. They are also liable to perform really well one game and crap the next. I wouldn't take too much from the two games. No coincidence they scored all their goals against us after we went down to ten men. We were looking pretty good up to that point.

I still think QPR and Reading are doomed. Fact is though, we're now just two points from the relegation zone. That Villa game at the end of Jan looms really large. You both have a fairly horrible February, so it will be crucial to get something from that.

Quote from the BBC guy: "Maybe the effects of four games in 10 days are telling..." Well, not for Arsenal, obviously. I still think that that was a major factor in your last 20 minutes the other day.

Our match today. I remember when I thought Howard Webb was a great ref. Some will say he did a good job today because he didn't book anybody, but in reality he just let cynical shirt-pulling, niggly fouls and time wasting go completely unpunished. So infuriating.
-
Started all right, then went completely off the boil. I'm enjoying the match though, but maybe it's just watching Berba.
-
West Brom looking very tidy. Work hard to get the ball back if they lose it, and neat passing when they don't. Just lacking a bit of guile going forward. Berba would do wonders for that team.

I looked at that post, couldn't quite figure it out and then realised it was YOU who posted it

You called? You need ya own forum section.. start sessions at 2pm this lot are in melt down This is a quite brilliant idea. "Ask Parky." It doesn't need to be about Newcastle exclusively, can include personal issues, conspiracy updates, IT help.

Sounds ok for a squad player. Didn't realize his contract was up though. This season will not help his negotiations...

Lots of you want to get shot of Simpson, which I don't fully understand. I mean, he's not very good, but you still have the Europa and the FA Cup, as well as vital League games. Surely you'd need cover at RB? Unless you're counting Santon I suppose, and Ferguson at LB. How much do you think Simpson's on?

The transfer window. Not the basic concept - which I actually agree with - but all the bullshit we're fed in the run-up and during January. Tonight has been crazy on here, yet it's not even Dec 31st yet (where I am, anyway).
