  1. Fuck me, I wish we had a striker with a brain at times.
  2. Just grit your teeth and deal with it.
  3. The gif they gave you is from when he played the Club World Cup with Mazembe. The lunatic does it all of the time. Anyway, Dr Congo-Ghana was actually a fantastic match, DRC has the best chance to win, but both sides had a plethora of chances. The twenty people in the crowd will have enjoyed it. This Tottenham team lacks actual creativity, imo. Dembele and Dempsey haven't imposed themselves. Lennon, Bale, and Defoe are just running into blind alleys. Been a real problem this year. Dempsey was supposed to help that, but has only shown flashes of guile, whereas Sigurdsson hasn't really had enough time. Of course, if we put away as many of our actual gilt-edged chances that we should, then it wouldn't be a worry at all. Hopefully Holtby will help. Willian would have made the world of difference (or either Hazard or Oscar if Chelsea hadn't got CL, but there you go).
  4. Speaking of which, I'm very nervous about our all-English back four today. Happy that Nani is missing, and that Valencia is not up against Naughton from the start.
  5. I'd say they're in real danger of missing out on the Europa (except I don't know how many teams will get in this year, obviously). Everton and Liverpool look very strong, and hopefully we'll keep our form up too.
  6. Unlikely, really. We're missing Sandro for the season, they're missing Fletcher. We're missing Kaboul and possibly Gallas, but have cover, they're missing Young and Evans, but have cover. The only possible one is Ade, and I'd have thought we'd rather avoid the fixture pile-up .
  7. Was looking forward to it tbh. Not confident. Would take a draw tbh.
  8. Our game might be off. At least the Man U fans won't have had to travel far. Ithankyew. Try the veal.
  9. Hang on, you guys could do with a couple of Chelsea red cards here, couldn't you?
  10. hate the attitude of fans who can't accept what they're seeing with their eyes, what on earth are you basing this on? Who can't accept it, like? What a bizarre thing to say. If I want to stay positive and support the team in the same way I've done for twenty odd years, that's my choice. Not everyone has to be reaching for the razor blades just yet. I've seen enough, even in yesterday's game, to know that we can score goals. I've also seen enough to know that a new centre half will make a massive difference to our defence. Add a new, competent striker and Hatem to our team and I think we'll put in enough performances, in spite of the manager, to get the points required to stay up. i used the word accepted as you used it so your reasons for believing we can stay up are a new striker and CB plus HBA returning then? interesting, 2 of the 3 don't actually exist at the moment and it'll be a massive ask for HBA to turn this on his own, but i sincerely hope you're right Yet in the first half yesterday there were people talking about boosting GD and scoring a few. You were playing well, with a Cabaye lacking match fitness, and Williamson, Shola and Jonas on the pitch. Ben Arfa and Steven Taylor still likely to come back into that team soon. It's certainly not fantasy to imagine that you'll turn this around. FFS, you're not even in the bottom three yet! The single biggest problem is that after the next match, your run-in is pretty tough. And probably Pardew. You're still posed on the knife-edge, which is why I think you can make a pretty confident prediction after Jan 31st. Then you'll know where you are.
  11. I'm glad it's acceptable. I reserve the right to abuse the opposition players as a fan (within certain limits!), so it would be pretty rough if I couldn't take it back. One of my favourite goal celebrations of all time is Charlie George's sliding double-Vs to the opposition fans. I'm not a fan of the "hand cupped to the ear" celebration, because it's a bit of a cliche, but it's all part of the fun. I hate those incidents when fans complain to the FA/police about incitement from players, when the article is usually accompanied by a picture of the player in front of a bank of people giving him "wanker" signs or the finger.
  12. I'll bet he isn't. Their form (and goal difference) is worse than yours.
  13. On a positive note, beat Villa and we're level with our last relegation season, beat Villa and Chelsea and we'll also be level after 25 games. That's a positive note?
  14. They worked hard against us. Might have been a different story if Julio Cesar hadn't made that wondrous double save, but I though they looked well-organized. Add a dangerous forward (Remy?) and they might start picking up results. Actually, they already have. I've felt all along that this is the crucial week (and a half) for you. I predicted a draw today, but a win next week and you staying up. You've already showed signs of improvement with Cabaye coming back - a new CB and one more forward player and I'd be fairly confident, Pardew notwithstanding. Just look at the comments in the first half, well, before you scored. It was all about the great football, and how with Ben Arfa you'd be 4 up. There's some truth in that. I'd say 7-8 now. Draw next week, and it's 8. Lose and it's 9.
  15. Yep, Keegan came in, and our form improved massively if I remember correctly, wasn't it after the Stoke FA cup game? My point exactly. Everything Moron said was wrong. But the London scribes are busy rewriting history anyway so that we fickle Messiah-hunting Northern idiots are proved to be cloth-cap-wearing whippet-owning crybabies who DEMAND to win the universe right now. They can f*** right off imo. Merson isn't a fuckwit because he's from London. He's a fuckwit because he's a fuckwit. The most prominent Newcastle-baiting Messiah talk was from Aston Villa fans, who are also not from London. Not that many (most?) sports journalists aren't fuckwits, but don't blame it all on London.
  16. Anyone mentioned Adkins as a possible new manager? Not stirring, just curious. Edit: I mean for you guys, not anyone else. Blackpool already sniffing around.
  17. Yes - they don't even need to recruit Carr on a bigger salary, they just watch who we bid for, then trump it. I don't want to blow my own trumpet but I did say in the summer I was very uncomfortable about the amount of media Carr was doing and the attention he was bringing to our scouting system... Also the way others at the club including AP were bragging about it almost... I felt then this would be the result of it all and it's proving to be so... I couldn't name a scout at another club and before Carr I wouldn't of known who our scouts were... Yeah, Dennis Wise certainly kept a low profile....
  18. Chris Foy reffing our game on Sunday, v Man U. He also reffed the reverse fixture, which we won. I realize I'm paranoid, but why does this make me nervous? I forgot - the next match he reffed after that game was in League Two. Again, I am just repeating paranoid messages from one of our boards, yet I am still suspicious. I'm being stupid here, aren't I? Edit: yes, yes I am. Just looked up his list of games this season. Ignore me.
  19. He's pretty tall for a dancy player. Like Cristiano Ronaldo I say. I know he's tall but I remember reading he was massively weak as p*ss. Well he's not a bull by any means. He's got plenty of talent, just still very raw. Could see him very easily wasting away on the bench at Stoke. He and Michael Kightly will become good friends. Speaking of, from his wiki page: "He grew up supporting Manchester United but switched allegiances to Tottenham Hotspur after he realized that he was glory hunting." Because being from Essex and supporting Spurs isn't also glory hunting. We actually have a large constituency in Essex - although Basildon is West Ham. However, and more to the point, he actually played for us as a kid . Bit harsh. Plus, he was born in 86. Not too many glory-hunters will have followed us in the late 90s. Useless bit of info but in my previous employment as removals man, i moved Michael Kightly and his family when he was 16 or so, he had a lovely looking sister. And this is for you Leffe, i moved Darren Caskey just after he left Spurs.. Ah, Darren Caskey, we liked him . Tidy little player. Ah well. Didn't realize his son now plays for Brighton (thanks Wiki - and Jesus, now that makes me feel old). Reminds me about Danny Hill - was around at the same time and looked absolutely brilliant in the reserves, but couldn't make the step up. He ended up in darkest Essex too. I remember Spurs coming and signing Southend's two full backs, Edinburgh and Austin who were both crap, yet ignored Chris Powell. Ah yes Danny Hill, he was Championship Manager-tastic before it became FM. Never knew that last bit . I remember going to one reserve match (back when it was first-teamers getting back to fitness plus a couple of kids) and he was absolutely amazing, made loads of pros look like donkeys. I hate to say it on here, but I should point out that Justin Edinburgh has two Cup winners medals with us...

Stupid b******. It's only a game. Well it's a job for him too, tbf.

  22. Annoyed I can't watch this. How has Holtby been playing?
