  1. When the PGMOL fucked it up at our place and disallowed Diaz’s goal. It was all the more delicious because of the red cards and then the late winner. And then everyone vaguely connected with Liverpool threw every single toy out of every single pram.
  2. This is why that one time they got shafted was so beautiful and we needed to enjoy it, because we knew it would never even happen again.

Oh God, here we go again
  4. As long as you don’t pretend we get preference from VAR and refs, sure
  5. And I’d point out that we’ve always been screwed by refs and VAR. Like most of us. Just talk about the Big 5.
  6. But we always have been. That’s why every time I hear about the “Big 6” being favoured by refs and VAR I laugh through my tears.
  7. You’ll not have watched our game then?
  8. I almost don’t want to go check out KUMB. Didn’t they sack Moyes simply because they wanted better football?
  9. We had 6 clean sheets in the Premier League all last season. We’ve had 3 out of 4 so far.
  10. The irony being, if he hadn’t scored there’s every chance we’d get a penalty because VDV was being held.
  11. Van De Ven is pushed into KWP by whoever is marking him, who basically has him in a bear hug throughout. Bloody VARtel.
  12. I do hope so. With City stagnating a bit and Liverpool not entirely convincing I think it’s going to be up to Arsenal to fuck it up tbh.

It’s kinda nice that there aren’t many managers in world football that will give less of a shit about what others think than Tuchel. It’s a double-edged sword, but might currently work in his favour. Genuinely an interesting number of decisions to make about this squad.
  14. Since you bring up spurs (ahem), I’d bow like Chelsea to return the league title in 2016/17 to us please.

Further to this on press bullshit, I saw something on Reddit that I felt I had to respond to on there, and here’s the original tweet: The gist of what I said is that it’s absolutely asinine that Henry Winter can watch that game against Serbia and think “well there’s no way Gordon and Rogers are even the #2 choices at their positions”. How can you say that with a straight face? If you look at the tweet, he’s put Gordon and Rogers (and Dan Burn and Djed Spence etc) in the group of also-rans. He’s then said that Tuchel has to take Rogers, and he likes Burn and Henderson, so presumably Gordon misses out. Fucking hell. We should be glad that we have so many options I guess. Wish we had more options for the England press corps.

Yeah we’ve all been saying it about Kane for years tbf. To the first point, it might just be that Tuchel is the best possible manager for the job for that reason. He almost seems designed to ignore/override the press. As long as his stuff works anyway. We all know the knives are constantly out whatever happens.

There was a German guy on some Spurs podcast recently - might have been Honigstein actually - who was asked what the BM fans thought about Kane. He said they were in awe because of all the stuff they hadn’t realized - the range of passing, the willingness to defend, the incredible finishing etc. but particularly the passing. All the Spurs guys were like “we tried to tell everyone”

Only if he lets the press bullshit get to him. He doesn't strike me like that sort of manager, and he's finally got a game that he can point to and say "told you so" to his players. It shouldn't be a headache, it should be an advantage. You'd expect to see Saka instead of Madueke, but the others? Brilliant options to bring on as subs I think. It's hard to make an argument against the rest of that front 6 today, Bellingham or no Bellingham.

That's the other thing Tuchel's done, he's not thought "I've got to find a way to get all the best players on the pitch", he's made a plan and picked a team for it. Didn't work against Andorra, worked like a dream against Serbia.

Watching that replay of the penalty and Pavlovic was just pushing Bowen into the area to try to get it retaken. He was made to look a tit all night, no wonder he got lairy at the end.

We said it at the time, and Tuchel said it openly afterwards. It's bloody hard to break down a low block and two or three players were simply not pulling their weight. I think Kane was very clearly told to stay as the 9, but as Tuchel said, Eze didn't do what he was supposed to and Rashford wasn't up to it either.

That was a pleasure. I mean, Serbia are surely the worst second team in a group of five, but that was such a complete victory.

It did look like a dive tbf . That was my first thought. Just too perfect a fall.

Yeah, he was our best player for a stretch last year. Awkward start because Conte didn't want him "club signing" and I presume was ignoring him on principle, then more than one loan manager had unspecified issues with him. There was a point when we literally could not believe he wasn't getting a game, then he finally played and nearly single-handedly kept us in the cup against Cov. Then he didn't play again for a while. It was nuts. There is an entirely plausible theory that it was brilliant man-management by Ange in the end. Spence has been really good ever since. He's incredibly fast - supposedly faster than Van de Ven at times - and is making a very justifiable case to be one of the best one-on-one defending fullbacks in the league. Been better at LB tbh.
