If they shut down Ameobi right now we'll be lucky to get a draw, thats the sad reality of it. Our best chance of a win in this game is Guthie getting a good period of time on the pitch. If not we wont create much atall. Butt will be as a crap as ever, give the ball away continually and lack the legs to make up for it.

Llambias was asked on that radio show the other day whether the transfer deadline was a deadline for the sale of the club & he said no. So theres a good chance we could be here a while past friday to. We just have to hope they have the brains to actually sign some players to.

Taylor isnt going to careless about some quotes from Redknapp. He clearly had a good relationship with shearer & has been the main lad speaking out about getting him back. That wont have changed. If he goes it'll be due to similar reasons others like Martins have given, this place being a mess and not looking like improving any time soon.

Good things to hear from his point of view. Just unlikely that we'll keep him...i hope we manage to. He will be a big plus for us if we can.

Smith's pretty much the same. Well i didnt get the opportunity to watch him against Sheff Wed but i havent seen that. At one point against reading he made a rash tackle that everyone was having a go at him for, while ignoring the fact that hed just cleared the ball himself from our goal line & then rushed out on his own to put the opposition under pressure while the rest of our side stood around looking clueless. So i think people underestimate what he may be giving us & focusing instead on his bad tackling. From what ive seen, hes of far more use than Nolan or Butt would be defensively in midfield.

I beg to differ. If Taylor goes and Campbell comes in we are better on the pitch. I understand why people are upset, I am too at the way this smug retard is destroying the club. But Taylor is not a world beater by any stretch, it's just that right now we've let enough players go and so shouldn't be letting him go too without a replacement. Well i didnt want to go that far but i'm not one of those crying about the potential loss of Taylor as if he is replaced by Campbell, that would be fine by me. I think we are at the limit of letting players go now, anymore without adequate replacement and you would be right in thinking the season looks more than tough. If Barton, Jonas and Guthrie stay, i reckon we'll be doing alright. But thats ignoring our consistantly massive problem with injuries. We need several players in now without even thinking of replacing people, i wouldnt be suprised if we have the worst recent injury history of near every team in English football. That risk is increased even further with the extra games they'll now be playing this season. So it seems incredibly likely that we will get injurys to important first team players. So far its been Butt, Guthrie, Bartons had a twinge & now carroll out. This is after only 3 games. If we lose a centre back right now, we have to play a kid from the youth team. If Enrique gets injured, we have barely any decent replacement. Without Barton/guthrie alone we dont look that capable. The only reason we won wednesday was Ameobis confidence, on any other day thats a 0-0 draw and thats the most we deserved. Problem is, we could be playing with a worse side than that for much of the season. We have to add to our squad, we will have a massively hard time otherwise.

Its all based on how likely Taylor thinks it is for us to be promoted, if he has any reason to doubt that (And there are loads) then he's going to see staying here as a waste of a year in comparison to a move to a side that regularly gets into Europe. Its a very simple choice at this stage. Our prospects dont look good with Ashley here & he's still here.

Thats a pretty moronic thing to say at this point in time. I doubt those who've "had enough" really have, theyre just expressing their dispair. I also wouldnt massively judge people negatively for having fallen out of love with football recently after having this fat clown consistantly f*** up any hopes we could possibly have of enjoying football once again. Probably best to get off your high horse. He's absolutely right though. We're going through the s**** again and we'll come out of the other side again too. You mean like Leeds, Forest, Sheff Weds, Southampton etc? No, like we did 17-18 years ago When Jayson was just 4 years old. So in fairness, he's not seen this s*** happen before and is panicking and buying into the Doomsday scenario that all the doom-mongers are wallowing in right now. I just dont blame anyone for giving up at this point. Atall. Watching football isnt about consistant frustration and despair. There has to be up points & yes we've had some recently. We now face a season like the last of that all being thrown away & everyone just moaning endlessly about how crap it all is. It takes away the point of it all. I dont think many of us have a choice in going through that, but i certainly wouldnt think people who wanted to sit it out for a bit were twats.

Theyll be negotiating a price if theyre in talks, you can give up on Ashley having turned it down. Taylor wont either...theyre a top 5 side the last few seasons, as loyal as he is anyone would find that hard to turn down.

Hughtons tactics are basically Kinnears from what ive seen. Wasting substitutions by using them purely as forms of wasting time in the last mins when our sides looks crippled for the last half hour or so. Then long ball to the front men, except now its working half decently because of worse opposition. Thats about it. The players are getting these wins on their own.
-
Smith is the only defensive midfielder we have that can actually put any pressure on the opposition. Nolan & Butt can barely run, let alone keep up with passes. Butt showed that endlessly last season, we have had a go at both for being invisible during games now. Yet now because smith is over the top he's completely useless to us & a liability. Compared to the others he a godsend ffs. Atleast you can moan at him for tackling badly, the other dont get anywhere near the ball to tackle in the first place. Id much rather smith was playing.
-
I despair at the idea of them thinking we dont need to add to our squad. Perhaps at best theyll just sell & then replace some of our higher paid earners. This cock is going to completely fuck up our chances of promotion & end up apologising about it all over again. Round in fucking circles, twat.
-
Id play Smith over Nolan, seeing as you need a defensive midfielder who can actually run. So that counts butt out to. Barton & Guthrie will be able to link it up enough on their own.

Won us the game today, won us the game on saturday, blocked on the line in the first game & set up nolans pass to duff in the first. Hes near got us up to 3rd single handedly. He has his flaws, but the fans being behind him now will help enormously. Our second highest goalscorer in europe so hes clearly always had the ability in there, hopefully his confidence will stay high now. Looks like hes going to make a telling contribution to our season.
-
I think he did that from the first day he came tbh. Not everyone's cup of tea but why blame the favourites when there's a handy scapegoat? Who are the favorites Butt & Nolan ?? Central midfielders are mainly the only people you could put at more fault, maybe with rtaylor also. I agree that the midfield is probably our biggest issue, but largely because when thats decent it takes a lot of the pressure off defence. He is a pretty woeful defender, Faye was 20x better.

Seems like Carroll needs to improve his movement, near every single cross and sholas the one on the end. He judges it right everytime & Carrolls off somewhere else. Strange, because he looked good last season dropping off at the backpost. His workrate is good, but at championship level he should be looking quite dangerous himself also & he hasnt really.
-
If we can somehow get both Barton and Guthrie into the same midfield, we'll batter nearly every team in this league. With Barton alone we'll be able to outplay most. With neither, we'll be fighting for draws. We were lucky as hell we had a confident Ameobi today after sat, any other day that games a 0-0 draw.
-
Get Barton or Guthrie in the starting line up next to smith we'll look a much better side. Our midfield really is what determines how good we are. A couple players out and we become useless
-
If shearers not here within the next week or so he'll be gone
-
Bit of a wake up call to anyone thinking we'd walk the league. Be much harder if we lose a couple players to. An unconfident shola today and we'd have just drawn 0-0. Far from convincing but atleast we got it. Barton is massive for us this season.
-
wahey well atleast thats 3 more points.
-
wtf is with hughton and subs in the last 5 mins, hes learnt to much nonsense off kinnear
-
This game, 2nd half especially shows the difference Barton makes in linking it up.

yer ppl i was reading got it wrong
