Martins missing his chance doesnt mean it was wrong to play him from the start, it means that it was the right decision to do that as another player may not have even come that close. We were just unlucky that Martins didnt finish what he probably normally would have. No contradiction going on
-
I think I'd like to see Martins come off the bench again. So that leaves Viduka, Owen and Lovenkrands as the possible starters if I was picking the team. That's what should have happened against fulham and I think it cost us. Martins for the last 30 mins can be really destructive, and I also have a feeling that Lovenkrands and Viduka would work well as a pair. Im pretty sure we were all happy with Martins being on the pitch early when he ran though and smashed a clear chance against the post. Thats what cost us, not him being on the pitch. Is it just me who has read that and seen the contradiction? Impressive in a 2 sentence post! Its just you, read over it again & rethink it.

possibly the most embarrassing thing ive ever witnessed

How is a good player leaving a side whos been relegated us getting "f***ed". You make out as if its somehow massively unfair on us. Its not his fault our owner turned out to be a t*** and everything else went wrong.
-
Yeah lets expect the guy to risk possibly the entire outcome of his career on us because we bought him. As if somehow we did him a gigantic favor and weren't buying him because we expected him to improve us in the future
-
They won the last match they HAD to step up for which was boro. The fulham was important but they knew in the back of their minds they had another chance most likely, i reckon/desperately hope they'll step up for the Villa match again.

Couple of half decent games and suddenly they think they are established prem stars. They need to stop reading player reviews off forums. Well I seem to remember us being the only club sniffing around him. He's 23/24 would one season kill him, just pisses me off we aren't even relegated and he's talking about buggering off. Put yourself in his position, could be a once in a lifetime thing. If he stays with us and we go down.....next season our squads still crap so overall we do average...he does alright but is let down by the rest of the defence etc you think Arsenal would still be after him ? Unlikely when you're only playing at that standard. Ofcourse hes gonna choose the likes of Arsenal over Newcastle, nothing to do with Loyalty. Its likely even Shearer would have done similar if we'd gone down.

Best thing about Martins is his determination. Like the 2nd chance he had that was saved by schwarzer is typical Martins at his best. The ball bouncing, hes half falling over & stumbling around, he still controls it & holds off the defender...then cuts inside and has a good chance saved. I see very few other players doing that, most would just fall over bar maybe torres. As far as his pace, ive seen him several times (before injury) this season going for the same ball as a defender from the same position and he hasnt beaten the defender to the ball most of the time. If he does he barely does & the defender just makes a slide tackle to put it out. At full pelt he might be fast, but sprinting from a stop he hasnt been superquick this season compared to the average. He does have very quick feet though, this is why sometimes his control is class & sometimes atrocious.
-
When was the last time anyone saw him do this when both players started from the same position He's playing hampered by a groin injury according to the club. Do you really expect him to explode from the blocks if that is the case? I didnt give any reason to suggest i was only talking about Martins speed post-injury.
-
Doesnt work like that i dont think. Their best players got to be their best players because of their will to win in the first place, its that drive that makes them as good as they are. They wouldnt just turn up and be OK with losing to Hull. They'd want to win. Rooney may not be playing, but hes a good physical demonstration of what probably most of them feel like when they are losing/drawing regardless.
-
No he wasn't, we just had really high expectations at the time and he was always injured. And thats the truth right there. A player like dyer in this current side would be seen as a legend.

Nah its just called common sense. Thats why all you ever do is whine about me posting, instead of being able to argue against it. Bit embarassing for you. isn't it embarassing for you that you've basically had your tongue up Owen's arse for the last 4 months and he's proved you wrong, game after game if you had a brain youd get why that sentance you posted is moronic several of us have presented perfectly good arguments about Owen, you just don't acknowledge them totally different players with differing attributes, neither of which should hold their heads high at the end of the season. We're not even comparing owen to martins at this point, just arguing about the same old crap about Owen being crap/good.

He was interviewed not long ago talking about how he loved the spotlight on the premier league & would hate to get relegated because he'd lose that. The mans a clown.

Gotta forget it all up to this point and just go for it...no point feeling sorry for ourselves and defeatist, the crowd needs to get properly up for it regardless. The argument that the players dont give anyone anything to get up about is a two way thing. The players might get a boost of addrenalin from hearing a sizeable support which isnt always there. It makes sense psychologically that a player is more likely to give up/lose morale if the crowd have to. Think about the effect it would have on you mentally. If a lot of people are still up for a game even when you're losing/drawing...& cheering you on like crazy...makes it near impossible for you not to be convinced your sides not still in it. Belief breeds more belief. More belief = more effort. Its endless positives. So the last thing anyone should do is start feeling sorry for ourselves and apathetic during the match. We're part of it...it might make a difference it might not. You have to try.

working out the likelyhood of us winning Last time they lost at home was 2-1 to tottenham 15th march chelsea 1-0 in feb & then u have to go back to november for a 2-1 loss against boro Thats it. So if we do miraculously win its likely we'll be bricking a one goal margin until fulltime.
-
Probably been said before, but Zaki might be worth a shot. Bruce has been having clear trouble with him but he looked class before that, might be worth the risk if shearer believes he can get the lad under control. They're very similar in the way they play, hed be able to teach him easily what he did himself.

Just read this on sky, sounds like hes playing the youngsters:
-
See no reason for fergie to have anything against Newcastle. Hes talked us up in the past tbh. Its more than likely theyll do enough to beat hull.
-
Can uz stop talking about how easy it will be to deal with Milner/how crap he is in general. The last thread in the Bassong thread before the boro game was how crap schwarzer was. Thus bassong gets sent off & schwarzer gets our goal dissallowed and makes two match winning saves. We've experienced this before. Milner is purely a legend, who i think we all fully expect to score & assist many goals on sunday against us.

Balls, it's basically ridiculous to use our current situation to score points over anyone. What makes it ridiculous. Why does both parties being sad about the outcome, deny someone the ability to point out to someone else how moronic their opinions were. Not talking specifically about this ofcourse, havent been following these convos for a massively long time. But in general, i dont get the whole "nevermind if you were right, we're all sad now anyway so lets not say anything anymore" f*** that, if you're gonna be disrespectful towards someones opinion and then you're proven to be a clown - You cant complain.
-
Dont know who these posters were, but if someone makes out your a twat for holding a sound opinion and then you're proven right id want to shove it back in their faces to tbh. Not about ignoring Newcastles situation, just making a point.
