  1. Me mam has just came in with this from charity shop: http://www.classicfootballshirts.co.uk/premiership-clubs/newcastle/2006-newcastle-alan-shearer-testimonial-home-shirt-l.html £2.99 brand new still with tags and that on. Canny. Will have to try and get it signed.
  2. James Montague ‏@JamesPiotr 2m In Tahiti hotel for #ConfedCup2013 Just intvwd coach Eddy Etaeta. Squad almost all amateurs. 1 plyr collects & cleans coconuts for a living.
  3. Most of Uruguay's midfielders are nasty and cynical. Arevalo Rios in particular. Hartlepool's finest Michael Brown is still playing, he's a cunt. Carlos Marchena is a horrible piece of shit. Gary Medel of Chile/Sevilla is off his nut. More wreckless idiot than hardman though. I wouldn't say there are any that fill the traditional hardman role tbh, certainly not at the top level.
  4. Canny opening montage from BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22865042 Brazil vs Japan tomorrow night.

    Douglas

    Arsenal 2003-2004.
  7. They're not going after him because he's pulled away from our price range and level of competition from other clubs.
  8. Seen some people saying they wouldn't have him because of his mackem ties. I think that's just about the only positive about signing him.
  9. Wilson's stuff borders on tactical autism. He has some stuff I have enjoyed reading, don't get me wrong, but much of the time it bores the tits off me. When it comes to football literature its always best when focusing on the human side of things. On the players themselves, on fan culture, on how football reflects society etc make for good reading be it in book or article form.

    That last screenshot is amazing.
  11. I've mentioned it before but Tim Parks - A Season with Verona is by far the best football book I've read, about an Englishman expatriated in Italy who follows Hellas Verona to all their away games throughout the season. The writer should I say isn't exactly what you'd call your traditional working class football fan, but you excuse it as its so well written. Opening chapter in particular is fantastic and although the rest of it doesn't live up to those standards it's still well worth a read. It's not all about football as he uses the season as a framework to explain Italian mindset and culture.
  12. FFS At least mine was accidental.

Their signings/links are weird. Not seen anything of Ba, Roberge or Cabral but the Serie A links - Diakite, Biabiany, Cavanda, Paulinho - are all very ordinary with Diakite the pick of the bunch. Quite a scattergun approach to signing players, you can tell they've got an Italian DoF/scouting system in place. Seem to be signings lots of strong, fast and athletic players though which improves chances of being a success in England and something their side desperately lacks.
  15. I deleted when I came back and saw the trail of destruction.
  16. Well shit. It wasn't there for me.
  17. Goatse. Well I have no idea how that happened.

    MLS

Ex-Hartlepool United striker David Foley (who scored 0 goals in 98 league appearances in League One and League Two) is a handy player in the NASL. I'm sure Marcos Senna will cope.
  20. His Twitter account is clearly one of those ran by his agents/marketing advisors/other folk.
  21. He looked mint the other day for Korea on Eurosport
  22. Who they replaced him with, the Korean chap?
