The L7 corner is essentially a standing area.

Seems like sound logic.

They're making an effort to bring youngsters through. There were loads of opportunities for us to give the likes of Vuckic and Ranger more game time last season to prepare them better this season. As it is, we are having to play Ranger without much experience under his belt.

Wouldn't say so. There's already been a fair few better this season. Bale v Stoke springs to mind for one. Taking into account the skill Onuhua showed, how unlikely it was for him to score and where he scored it, it certainly has to be up there. I don't think you can take the unlikeliness of the scorer into account, otherwise a Smith tap in would be goal of the season! It just seemed a bit messy (not Messi) to me. A Sunderland full back took on the Chelsea defence, and slotted the ball into the bottom corner to give them the lead over Chelsea, and you think it was messy? It wasn't flawless that's all. I want flawless for my goal of the season godammit.

People have been too harsh on Ranger, IMO. He hasn't done as badly as some have made out. Like Wullie says, people had written Carroll off just last season. I'm not saying Ranger is going to replace Carroll instantly because he isn't as good but at least give him a bloody chance.

I dunno if it's a pet hate of mine but...yesterday on MOTD on our game the commentator said something along the lines of 'Newcastle saved by the bar.' Erm...the player missed the goal (or the net at least) we weren't saved by anything, if you can't avoid the posts and bar you don't deserve to score.

He's injured for us as well though! I agree with the sentiment but he'll surely miss Bolton and probably Chelsea now, I reckon. If he was fine last night and now he's suddenly injured, it must be precautionary thing, like Man Utd do all the time. If so, the point still stands because he might be OK enough to play, but we can't risk that. We come first. I can only think that he felt his groin but thought it would be alright, now tests have been done and ruled him out. Like I said in my last post, I do agree with you with regard to us coming first. Let's hope he's fit enough to play at least some part against Bolton and hopefully start v Chelsea.

That seems to be the strongest team Everton have put out all season, is anyone else missing?

I'm not sure or at least I hope not. Hughton seems to know the score and he has dropped players once we have the personnel to replace them. It happened to Butt and then Smith and it'll happen to Harper, Simpson and a few others over the next season or two.
-
I think it will take something dramatic for him to win his place back. I think its been said but I can't see much between them at the moment and Krul is only going to get better.
-
He's injured his groin? Sounds like another wild party at Kev's.
-
As a summer signing though I think? Because his contract is running out.
-
It's good when it comes off and normally disastrous when it doesn't. It's all about decision making, sometimes it's best to play it out if you're good enough, sometimes blasting it away is best. Today, for example, Coloccini in the first half tried to do his man in our box and ended up giving a corner away. On the other hand Williamson hoofed it a couple of times when a simple, short ball would've done the trick.

Should've chucked your bin bag at him.

Because they've paid £600+ and so far have seen two good performances and five performances rating from terrible to mediocre. We may be winning away but that doesn't make SJP viewing any easier If they want entertainment go to the pictures, theatre or watch Barcelona. Booing a draw to Fulham when the players seem to give a toss these days isn't right IMO. They don't want entertainment, they want points. The fans pay good money to see the team, they have every right to express how they feel. Not everyone is happy with not winning at home every week. I'm not entirely happy but booing is a waste of ****ing time. You think the players are happy with not winning? They don't need their own fans booing them to remind them they aren't winning.. It's pathetic and it's only going to put more pressure on the players in the future. Fans DO have the right to boo, doesn't mean I have to agree with them or respect them.

Always saw something in him. Well done Andy.

Hughton has raised everyone's expectations by getting the team to put in some top, top performances. I think most on the forum were predicting relegation or a 17th place finish before the season. Regardless of what standards Hughton has set, the aim is still to stay up. There's too much negativity considering the position we are in, regardless of who we have played, 7th place is mental after about a third of the season. The way people are going on you'd think our remaining home games were against the top 4. We still have Wolves, West Ham, West Brom and a few others to play at home and I know we haven't won our 'winnable' games so far but I'm confident we'll pick up points in those games. As long as we're not cut adrift (which I don't think we will be) coming into the last few games we'll be fine. Give this team those last few games of the 08/09 season and we'd stay up. This team has shown they came come back from demoralising defeats, we DO have team spirit. I doubted the claims coming from the team when they said team spirit was there and thought give it a few defeats and it will go...but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Guthrie was one of our best players for the first 30-45 mins. He was knackered after that though, dunno if he'll be any fitter today either. Having said that, I would've played Routledge still I think.
