  1. Utter nonsense. It just sets a terrible precedent though. What do we do if we are in the same position in ten games time with the new manager? Sack him? Where does it end, we need to at least one manager the time to build his own squad and implement his own tactics. This generally does not happen overnight. Even Mourinho concedes that he needs two years to mould his teams.
  2. We had those 'big players' against Blackburn, against Stoke, against Wigan, against Blackpool - they weren't much help there were they? And we lost to Blackburn, Bolton, West Brom and nearly lost against Wigan. We can't rely on getting points at Stamford Bridge and Anfield to keep us up. I'll be delighted, absolutely delighted. Doesn't mean I think it will happen. As I said to madras, it's better to have the better players in the team. Of course, they won't guarantee wins but we'll win more with them than without them. Yes, we lost to Blackburn Bolton (who aren't exactly doing badly) and West Brom and as I've said we've beaten teams in the same period. A topsy turvy season as a newly promoted team who'd have fucking thought it.
  3. True but we're only heading in one direction and it isn't f***ing up. At the moment. West Brom had won one in 5 before our game including defeats to Stoke, Blackpool and Wigan. Now they back up to 7th, people can't seem to be able to look beyond a few games though. We're not West Brom I'm showing you how to look beyond 2-3 games which you seem incapable of doing. Care to dig up some of your own posts after the Stoke defeat? Or Blackpool defeat? I bet you were saying the same thing them. We've had a bad run and came out of it, no reason why we can't do the same again, especially with Colo, Willamson, Barton and Nolan back. I've been making noises for a fair couple of months now. I am looking beyond 2-3 games - I've been harping on about poor home form and how the away form wouldn't continue, for weeks now - I was laughed at then, seems there are few laughing now. When the away form goes to s***, you need those points against Stoke and Wigan and Blackburn etc. to keep you up. The gap between us and the relegation zone is reducing much quicker than we were climbing the table. It's worrying - how can you not be worried? I'll be amazed if we get more than 2 points in our next three games. Then we'll really be in the s***. I'm not worried because things can change quickly up or down the table. We have big players coming back who can change things. I can't think many of our rivals who can say that. The likes of West Ham and Wigan have their full strength teams playing almost don't they? You've been making noises for a couple of months now? And in that time we've beaten Arsenal, Sunderland, West Ham and drawn with Chelsea and Fulham. That was after a terrible few games when everyone was saying we'd be certainties for relegation. Without just saying 'we're not West Brom' what's your opinion on their recent form? From terrible to good. What are you going to say if we pick up more than 2 points in the next 3? we lost at home to blackpool, blackburn, etc with our "big guns" playing. And then beat Sunderland, Arsenal and West Ham with our 'big guns' playing. They obviously don't guarantee points but it's better with them than without.

  7. And based on the last five games, which way are we headed? Hopefully the same direction as after the Blackpool, Stoke, Man City and Wigan games.
  8. Didn't realise there were that many here. Point still stands though.
  9. The Netherlands. The population of the Netherlands is a fair bit bigger than the NE, tbf. Aye and they've produced a fair few more world-class players than northeast England too. But a surprisingly large number for such a small country. The population is about 15m isn't it? Compared to about 500k in the NE. So they should've produced about 30 times more world class players. Since the 1980s I'm not sure they have tbh.
  10. Off the top of my head I can't think of many up there with those four. There probably are ones to rival them but they don't jump out.

  12. I wouldn't say he 'led' both of those teams to where they got though. At Inter he was more of cog in Mourinho's machine rather than a stand out dictator of play like Xavi. He didn't really impress me at the WC either, a couple of deflected goals at his general play wasn't exceptional. Xavi or Messi for me.
  13. There were also times, like when Guthrie gave that woeful pass to Jonas with the outside of his foot that Routledge was nowhere to be seen. He should've been stretching their defence by getting to the touchline rather than hanging around Carroll. He looks good at times but they are few and few between. I think it must be a confidence thing.
  14. We were lucky to have Shearer, Waddle, Gascoigne and Beardsley all from the same region. To keep producing the same quantity of top class players would be mental. How many other regions in the world, the same size as the NE, have produced top player upon player.
  15. Tiote is more important than Barton and Coloccini. Those two are probably next though, alongside Jose.
  16. I thought all your comments on Hughton were meant to be part of one big WUM joke? That's what you seen to be demonstrating recently at least. Do you really not rate him? The stuff earlier in the week about the contracts was clearly a joke. What do you disagree with above? I didn't say I disagreed with any of it. Just can't tell when you're taking the piss, you said we'd be bottom by Boxing Day or something recently.
  17. It was a 4-4-1-1 with Nolan playing really

  19. Frazzle

    Sol Campbell

It's true. Campbell was woeful today. He showed his complete lack of mobility and his ability on the ball bordered on the terrible. He seemed scared to hit it with his left foot a lot of the time.
  20. Obvious that Carroll led with his elbow into Scharner after Scharner had given him two mans challenges that put him in his pocket all afternoon, Carroll even had to cheat for the consolation goal, never mind, he can go and beat up some women now to get his manliness back! Scharner owned Carroll! Scharner did own Carroll, but it's not like he didn't go in with his elbow, even before Carroll did. How many yellows today, come on, all Newcastle players are unlucky saints whose farts smell of roses, all Albion players are inferior cheats. Right........ just listen to yourselves onsce in a while! What are your thoughts on Jara's recent behaviour?
  21. Think this "facade" is something people like you have made up tbh. Would certainly have him starting fwiw. Better than Williamson and Campbell without a doubt. Beyond this forum where everyone has jumped on a Taylor hate bandwagon I don't there's many fans who hate him tbh.
  22. I don't think he was that bad today. Better than Sol today and better than Colo and Williamson against Bolton.
  23. Agreed. Campbell was the worst culprit for aimless hoofs. Taylor did well at points bringing the ball out of defence and playing it short. I'll be happy to see Colo-Wiliamson again but I wouldn't be opposed to Colo-Taylor
