https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-gary-neville-carragher-16749548 Some real misinformed garbage in here from Neville. Apparently Steve Bruce is about our level and Rafa was shit anyway.
-
He's clearly not been paying attention. I've been watching Newcastle for over 25 years and can't recall us ever having less issues with injuries than when Rafa was here. At times in our history we've had epidemic levels of injuries but was never more than a handful the last few years.
-
It's frightening that manager and players are coming out with this. 2 shots on target and couldn't even get anywhere near their goal 2nd half when we had apparently thrown caution to the wind.
-
Lying comes so naturally to him. A perfect fit for the role.

The absolute gall of this little flid acting high and mighty about player investment after over a decade of underspending and one summer just gone when our net spend was about a par for once (and still only about 1/5 of our turnover). Stop trying to argue with Rafa about football you tit, you're making yourself look really fucking stupid. "Perfectly adequate" ffs  £30m net spend this summer leaves £90m from just the TV Money alone to be spent on the academy and training ground. How does the club pay wages to players then? Well that's just the TV money. Our turnover 2 seasons ago was almost £180m. Spending £30m net then claiming we are skint with that kind of turnover means the sums don't add up and lies are being told again.

Been a really entertaining game, this.

Good sides almost always get lavished with praise as we rightly were under Keegan and Robson. Anyone slagging us off during that time would have been slaughtered or ignored. But any time we've dropped from that position the "who the hell do they think they are, expecting success?" narrative starts from pundits with a chip on their shoulder about Newcastle then gets parroted by fans all over the shop.

Don't think all of Charnley's quotes in response to Rafa have been posted? https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11785249/newcastles-lee-charnley-hits-back-at-rafael-benitez-claims The absolute gall of this little flid acting high and mighty about player investment after over a decade of underspending and one summer just gone when our net spend was about a par for once (and still only about 1/5 of our turnover). Dummett's about 8/10 without the ball and about 2/10 with the ball. In this age where everyone's a good footballer regardless of position it's not really good enough to get away with.

Bruce can just bring them to Wet & Wild instead, it'll be a lovely day out.

If you're reading this, hi Lee. Hope your life gets fucking ruined m8

Good piece but I dont think its a big mystery whats going on. To me there seem to be to types here. 1) The obvious trolls like Richard Keys or Talksport who just try to make ludicrous claims to get a reaction/clicks/views/callers what ever. 2) The ones who have it in their best interest to keep a steady interest in every day events at the football club for business reasons. Who's fit for Saturday, what did Jonjo eat for breakfast today etc. These are the ones who tow the "lets move on and focus on football" line like the local papers. The whole of Newcastle boycotting the football club isnt good business for anyone in the media. Do agree but I think there's a 3rd type personally - people within the football media who have always hated Newcastle, who begrudged us having one of the best teams around in the 90s and 00s, who are delighted to see us back "in our place" now and therefore talk Ashley up or play his disastrous ownership down at every opportunity. They want us to fail and Ashley is the perfect man to facilitate that.
-
Implies Ashley is a proven and consistent liar when in reality you have to look at each situation as it comes.
-
Ashley has been consistently lying through his teeth for 12 years. Only you think that's even remotely debatable. Hysteria though.
-
Aye that's the thing about fucking dogs.
-
Fucks dogs, that's what I've heard.

      and comes and comes and comes and comes. Nope, no trend here. Cronky's out of his fucking mind but that may be one of my favourite ever quotes on this forum. If it was satire it would be amazing, but as we all know it isn't then it's somehow even better.

I regret that we never got these skunks when Rafa was here. Would have beaten them anytime of day. Now with the fat kebab in charge, no way I want these. It'll probably be seven in a row. Except we drew the last time we played them. Under Rafa -
Alex Bruce deleted his tweets? Bishop must have told his fatha it was off brand.

I’m still more surprised that he ever contacted us to sign up to this shitfest. It’s not like Ashley has done to Rafa something he didn’t do to other managers before. I love Rafa as much as the next fan, but in an odd way his presence possibly set the club back by taking the pressure right off Ashley. Fans might have given up on their season tickets by now, after three more years of the likes of Carver, McClaren and Bruce. I don’t blame Rafa obviously, but he can’t claim he didn’t know how Ashley operates before he joined and if he thought he might persuade him to change his ways he was sadly mistaken. I’m sure the likes of Keegan and Shearer would have been happy to explain that to him beforehand if he didn’t. Sadly I will always look back at the Rafa era with some regret for that reason, as brilliant a manager and a man as he is. I’m certain Ashley will have loved playing with his and the fans’ emotions. Tbf I fell for it as well. I was convinced that agreeing to hire Rafa was Ashley finally conceding his methods weren't working. But he really couldn't give a toss about the football, I think he'd rather watch the club burn than admit he is wrong. We saw it with Keegan when we were riding high, and we have seen it again with Rafa. When it all goes tits up as it must do, then he'll hold a press conference again saying he has made mistakes but will learn from them, and blah blah blah. Rinse and repeat. The signs weren't bad to begin with - talk of "what Rafa wants, Rafa gets" behind the scenes. That lasted one transfer window, where we made a substantial profit in net spend terms But players were signed that fit the needs of the squad in the manager's view. Whether that changed because Ashley wasn't happy with a few of the signings, or it was always the plan to play nice to give the best chance of promotion then pull the rug from under Rafa and revert to type, only Ashley knows.

TF definitely seem more cosy with this version of the club all of a sudden though, has Michael Martin sacked it off now?

They always spend about as much as they perceive will be enough to keep them hovering around the bottom half of the Premier League. No need invest much with Rafa as he could paper over the cracks perfectly well on a shoestring budget.
