Michael Owen a PL legend ffs. Aye, right. Depends on the criteria but he looked a huge talent for Liverpool and England in his first 4 or 5 years and scored some smashing goals. Forget about it after the Real Madrid move though, his career went to shit.
-
Aye it's pure Glenn Hoddle stuff with a few recent exceptions like Martinez one of the times he magically kept Wigan up.

Get in

I've not seen a more conservative central midfielder turn out for us for a long time. Every time he gets it, he slowly composes himself then safely plays us into a worse position than we were previously. He's really, really bad.
-
Just seen this, this absolutely cannot be true like. Seen him live multiple times and he's miles off the pace and doesn't have the technique/nouse to compensate for it.
-
Is there any value in the leadership/experience he'd bring, besides him being a quality player? We're really lacking that, it does make a huge difference. Listen to Keegan talking about football and he says you need 4-5 real winners in the dressing room to challenge for the league, Robson had a committee of experienced players that would do the same. I think we're seriously lacking that at the moment, the most experienced PL players in our squad are Coloccini/Sissoko and they're mutes.

WTF, was the story that Perez has a surprise or that Ryder knows the surprise or the surprise is that Ryder's saliva tastes like hot dogs

I don't think Carrick would work out like that if only signed for 18 months or so, instead of 4 or 5 years like Butt was. He's from Wallsend, he's achieved all there is to achieve in the game, but I think he's still got a bit of hunger in him. He's also streets ahead of our current midfield options. There's no point discussing it really as we know how stubborn the club are with their transfer policy. It might feel a bit Nolan/Taylor in January 2009 but we're talking about a different calibre of player here. Him and a centre half who knows what they're doing, we'd be sound. Tbh I think we'll see NUFC operating like normal, I think we'll sign 1 or 2 players but not the type of players we need in terms of character/experience/position. They always know better man, they'll want to flukily scrape past relegation yet again and carry on like they're doing a great job.
-
I've never been that into Carrick as a player but I think he'd be an excellent signing in January on an 18-month contract or whatever. We need some experience/leadership. Him alongside an experienced PL centre half in this window would see us through this season IMO, it goes against our barking mad transfer policy but needs must.

It is me aye, if i'm honest i've missed this place, you all the guys here. You calmed down about The Walking Dead yet m8?

Not to over-do it or anything, but has anyone thought of setting up a Facebook page where people can leave their condolences, thanks, memories, photos, etc? It would be nice to have a central spot to point his family towards so they know how much Pav meant to us and did them proud.
-
They don't want to sell him though, what benefit would he have to even mention it? I think it's possible they'll have looked at him. He's had a crazy season. "I do not agree with those who say Hatem needs to be at a small club in order to deliver his best performances. "I hope for him that he no longer plays for Nice next season. Why making statements like that? And of course he's had a good season. Not crazy, but good. Sort of reminds me of the plot of Good Will Hunting.

So approx 20 quid a month over minimum wage for full timers?

I think you're underestimating the depth of the girl's character.

He's pinched Thauvin's girlfriend IMO.

 That's mint.

Great how seamlessly this was slotted in.

FFS man. Somebody find Wullie's post about how teams have fared worse in the league when in the Europa League but not by TWELVE FUCKING PLACES. Not that it will mean anything to this utter bellend who has tediously fucked up every single football thread.

One thing I remember about Pav is that when the hype around NUFC was unreal and everyone was invested in it, there was a game at home to Forest when Collymore was the best striker in the league and in ultra confident form. We let Collymore clean through near the end and it looked a certain goal until Pav out-foxed him and somehow grabbed the ball from his feet before he had a chance to think about shooting. There were articles devoted to the save in the Chronicle, it was that good. I've made it sound shit, maybe you had to be there but it was fantastic and kept us in the game.

Horrible news, just thought and hoped he'd pull through. At least he managed to fit in his book and a last trip to Newcastle but it's scary how close these events all happened. Best wishes to his family and hope they're well looked after.

Buyback clauses should be banned but I suppose that a blanket ban would stagnate certain youngsters. Would like to find a way for big clubs to have to take their chances like everyone else rather than hedge their bets and gain yet another advantage beyond their vast finances. Nowt against Barca like and fair play to them. I feel similar about loans and it just irks me when clubs with almost infinite finances play the transfer system and the best young players end up fucking about on loan or on temporary transfers when they could be evening the odds between the haves and the have-nots.

It's gone down really well in Hackney Wick FWIW.
