We didn't get rid of all of our shit/disinterested players on ridiculous wages mind mate, a few aye - Owen, Viduka (both out of contract), Beye, Duff, Martins, Bassong were the main ones we moved on. Kept paying players like Smith, Xisco and Butt until their contracts were up years later. In reality the main reason we went straight back up is that we managed to keep a core of capable players at the club (probably out of sheer good fortune, as we seemed to be going for a fire sale and there seemed no takers) - a few more exits from the likes of Coloccini, Jonas, Nolan, Barton, Enrique and Carroll and we'd have been fucked.
  2. People are replying to stuff like this?!

  4. Ashley never spent loads and has done far more to thoroughly embarrass/belittle the club.
  5. It's a fair point, I can't stand those 2 clubs.
  6. Joe Kinnear, stadium re-naming, lying to the fans, Wonga as sponsor, treating club legends like arseholes, throwing money away by not accepting advertising revenue. Fucking et cetera.
  7. How many home defeats for Man Utd now, 5?
  8. We'll sign less than we need, as usual. Couple of £5m signings and the usual muppets will be on here slagging anyone off that doesn't have an erection mind.
  9. I agree, and it needs to be the right type of striker as well. Remy's not quite Henry like but he gives us so much more than goals. All week I thought today was a nailed-on win, the moment I heard he was out I thought it could be any result and so it proved. We're toothless without him.
  10. I asked him to give me a wave today and the ignorant cunt ignored me entirely. Hatred confirmed.
  11. Maybe if I put it this way it'll finally hit home but I doubt it - referees are inconsistent, luck doesn't always go your way, etc. If you go out to smash the team that are bottom of the league and you're a decent side you'll usually be alright, if you choose to make the outcome of the game marginal and rely on external factors then you can have no complaints when you end up looking like fucking morons. Not saying anything about deserving decisions, I'm saying these games where it's almost 50-50 will hinge on moments like that, but there was no reason for it to be a 50-50 game.
  12. I must be going senile, I don't remember saying "We didn't play well enough to deserve a penalty".
  13. Exactly, Wullie. We're involved in far too many of these types of games. We should have had enough to beat them fairly convincingly, they're abysmal.
  14. Definitely, we should play to a higher standard, let the likes of Chelsea get decisions that win them games whether they deserve it or not, we should stick to a strong morale code. If we don't deserve the points then we don't want them, after all successful sides only ever win because they deserve it! Missing points seems to be a specialism of yours, good stuff m8. What point am I missing? That we were shit? That's a point I'd agree with, but not if its also claimed that decisions in the game shouldn't have been given because we didn't "deserve them". Since when do sides need to play well to deserve decisions from the refreree? I'm not saying anything about deserving decisions. I'm saying you try to win the game with a determined attacking outlook and have decisions go against you then you can have a bit of a moan if you don't get a result. Far too often we go into games trying to do nothing but shade the game, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Today was one of those games where it didn't. We shouldn't be relying on referees against the side bottom of the league. We've had other games where we've had the rub of the green and had little sympathy for the opposition. It's tedious and unnecessary and I'm not having any hard luck stories when it doesn't come off.

  16. We were fucking awful for 90 minutes today, a couple of debatable decisions doesn't change that. We absolutely deserved to lose. Those couple of debatable decisions would have changed the result though, since when did teams have to deserve towij They scored with 20 minutes left, so 1) they might have pushed on and scored anyway if that hadn't happened, and 2) we had 20-odd minutes to do something. Again, if you pro-actively turn a football match into a non-event despite thousands of people paying a small fortune to watch it, then hard luck doesn't wash. At all.
  17. Similar to what I'm saying. I was there and I was bored out of my head. Find it hilarious when people say we were unlucky not to get anything when we weren't even actively trying to win the game. Just because the opposition were shite doesn't mean we deserved anything.
  18. We were f***ing awful for 90 minutes today, a couple of debatable decisions doesn't change that. We absolutely deserved to lose. This is one for the "pet hates" thread for me. Does not hide the fact it should not have been a goal to them and other than their disallowed goal, we had the best two chances (Cisse both). Granted in injury-time Krul wouldn't have been in their area at 0-0. We didn't deserve to win, but neither did they particularly. By the same token, "had some awful luck there" is an absolute load of bollocks. You show almost nothing in a game like we did today and you can't complain if you get beat, I've always said that. So if you don't threaten the opposition enough the referee shouldn't give you free kicks or penalties? Which Uefa ruling does this come under? If you play like shit for 90 minutes and the opposition defender handles the ball in his own penalty area that's a penalty. How deserving the opposition are of that penalty based on their past performance doesn't come in to it. My point's so ridiculously simple, if you do fuck-all to warrant winning a game then you can't complain when you lose it. I don't care about anything else, if you play that game where you and the opposition attempt to out-bore each other then don't start bitching when you come unstuck, particularly on a day like today where we had the better players on the pitch. Refereeing decisions and stuff like that don't come into it, if you're not trying to be out of sight versus the worst side in the league by half time then you deserve what's coming to you. And we weren't trying to do that.

My point is though, we showed as much/little as what Fulham did. We were playing for effectively nowt, they were supposedly fighting for their lives, yet we were the ones who had the best chances. I understand that point but they're a s**** side, we didn't deserve anything given how we played so we can't complain if we lost, regardless of Fulham's performance. A fair result would have been a draw but it's one of those games where neither side could feel hard done by if they lost. We've won plenty in similar circumstances the last few years. If I was Fulham I'd be delighted with the points due to the position they're in, if we'd won like that I'd say it wasn't really good enough but whatever. That's my point. There's a difference between 'deserved to lose' and 'didn't deserve to win'. That game today should have really been 0-0. If the ref makes the right call then it is. If you don't deserve to win by showing any meaningful attacking intent then you can't complain when you lose. That's my point and I'll say it every single time. There's enough people on here that say "well, we won so stop moaning" when we get a scrappy win in similar circumstances. In Fulham's position it's a good win though.
  20. We didn't lose the game because of the referee, we lost it because we were dragged down to their level and therefore contested a highly tedious match where it was going to end up 0-0 or 1-0 either way, depending on whether anyone produced a moment of quality or made a major rick (as Krul did). Pissed me off how we brought Shola on straight after their goal and fucking hoofed it for 20 minutes solid like, but I was hardly surprised.

  23. Wank that, like. One of the worst games I've been to, quality-wise. Our fans were pretty good until we conceded though.

Plenty of very good bars around Central Station, enough to make Newcastle a better night out than most places. Always fucks me off when people say they've visited Newcastle and spent their time in the fucking Bigg Market.
